while its running the gauge is half to 3/4 the way ...normal......then right before it dies it drops to about 1/5 on the gauge..

you wouldnt think it would have somehting to do with the fuel pump or the fuel pump sending unit.....maybe i dont know if there is pressure in the lines...

I'd be replacing oil sender. GM have used oil pressure switch as a safety shut-off to fuel pump, when oil pressure drops off, as it would in a collision, due to engine stall.

If your oil sender is not working properly, it will shut fuel pump down, not other way around. Like you stated, oil pressure drops, then engine dies like fuel shut off right?

Sorry, unexpected company showed up. Look in the area at back of engine, on driver side between distributor & valve cover

What should fuel pressure be on a 94 Chevy S-10 4.3L Vortec?

60--66 psi.
In my opinion. After it starts, it should run with less pressure.

94 Chevy C3500 5.7L oil pressure sw on right side of block in the middle that has only 1 wire. It does not run the oil gauge as it still works when unplugged.

Take the sensor to oriely's ,or autozone and have them match the sensor those trucks have two oil sensors or switches as most people call them the one behind the intake at the back of the engine is your oil gauge the other is the computer switch for other purposes like for the fuel pump or etc
Purpose: As a back-up system to the fuel pump relay, the fuel pump is also turned ON by the oil pressure switch. Operation: When the engine oil pressure reaches about 28 kPa (4 psi), through cranking the oil pressure switch will close to complete the circuit to the fuel pump.

the one up behind intake is a oil pressure switch

When I try to start my 1999 Chevy Tahoe 350 vortec I here the fuel pump run but it only starts and runs while spraying starting fluid?

Your best bet is to get a fuel pressure gauge and see if you have the required pressure at the test port.

94 chevy 5.7 4X4 has oil pressure at 40 psi when starting engine after warming engine oil pressure drops to 15 psi no engine noise?

15 is ok at idle, 10 will return the light on in the cluster. I would not worry about it unless it goes lower. The causes can be worn bearings, but if they were that loose you would hear a know for a second on cold start. Have you checked the pressure with a mechanical gauge to verify the notoriously inaccurate electric system

Problem with Chevrolet 4.3 Vortec fuel pressure / oil pressure relay

a bad fuel pump relay will not cause vehicle to only run under 50. the oil pressure switch does bypass relay when pressure builds up. if you are having problems with running need to check fuel pressure. possibly caused by clogged fuel filter

Srry me again

could be the fuel pump relay. Some of those trucks have a backup system that works through the oil pressure sending unit.

Wont start has fuel and has spark

these vehicles are known to have problems with the fuel pressure regulator/and also fuel pump. you need to hook up a fuel press gauge to see how many lbs.ther are. being off 1-2 lbs.from spec will cause a no start that will drive you crazy.
