Change oil transmission ford explorer 2002 4x2

i know you cannot check your transmission fluid like years prior to the 2002 they made this model so you have to take it into the shop/dealership to have them check your levels, and change the transmission. They are trying to eliminate the backyard mechanic from doing maintenance on the vechicles

2002 Ford Expedition motor runs but wont move at all ?

Automatic? Check your transmission fluid. If its low then add to it. If its dark and/or smells burnt then the transmission may have just gone south and needs replaced or rebuilt.

I need to know where I can find a diagram on where to mount the dipstick tube for the transmission

I could be way off here but...
Most Ford Explorer's and Expedition's and the like DO NOT have a dipstick for the transmission. Nor do they have a drain plug.
Ford decided that too many people were destroying their transmissions by adding too much fluid and additives. So, from at least 2002, the owner has to take the vehicle to a Ford dealer or a transmission shop for service. For what its worth, the fluid and the transmission's have been engineered to be service free for 100k to 150k. Hope this helps.

How do you know when you need to change your transmission fluid in my 2002 ford explorer

This is in the owners manual pages 269 and 270. TRANSMISSION FLUID
Checking automatic transmission fluid (if equipped)
The automatic transmission does not have a transmission fluid dipstick.
Refer to your scheduled maintenance guide for scheduled intervals for fluid checks and changes. Your transmission does not consume fluid. However, the fluid level should be checked if the transmission is not working properly, i.e., if the transmission slips or shifts slowly or if you notice some sign of fluid leakage.
Transmission fluid should be checked and, if required, fluid
should be added by a qualified technician.
Do not use supplemental transmission fluid additives, treatments or cleaning agents. The use of these materials may affect transmission operation and result in damage to internal transmission components. Checking and adding manual transmission fluid (if equipped)
1. Make sure the vehicle is on a level surface or level hoist.
2. Clean the filler plug or dirt and debris.
3. Remove the filler plug and inspect the fluid level.
4. Fluid level should be at bottom of the opening.
5. Add enough fluid through the filler opening so that the fluid level is at the bottom of the opening.
6. Install and tighten the fill plug securely.
Use only fluid that meets Ford specifications. Refer to the Lubricant Specifications in this chapter.

There is a foul smell in my 2002 ford expedition. My husband checked underneath and there was a clear fluid leaking. He said it was an oily substance. It let me smell it on his finger and THAT is the bad...

You most likely have a leaking heater core. Antifreeze is slimy and stinky, but it is generally green or orange. have a shop take a look at it.

How to replace all transmission fluid from torque converter and transmission in 1998 expedition? ?

The best way I know to change all of the transmission fluid is to have it professionally flushed and filled at a qualified shop in your area that specializes in this type of service.

Simply dropping the pan, and changing the filter won't do this as thoroughly as the flush and fill method which uses a special machine and a trained technician.
