2001 Audi A4 Windshield Wiper Issues....Work on their own

I have a 2001 Audi A4. The windshield wipers come on by themselves. Stop at different places, usually at the top of the arch. Start and stopping, or sometimes not starting at all. Then start again. What do you think the issue is?

The most likely cause of your symptoms is the wiper motor parking relay has become faulty, however there is a slim possibility the connections within your wiper switch could be an issue, but the relay would be my first and cheepest line of enquiry. Contact your local VAG dealer and expect to pay somewhere in the region of £15. Good luck

A4 wipers run and stop in the middle of the cycle and do not retrun to bottom of the windshield. What needs to be done to fix this?

Sounds like you may need to replace the wiper transmission which has the motor and both rods attached to it. Dealer calls it a wiper transmission or bracket. Most Audi dealers in area will stock it, especially this time of year.

I have Audi A4 2002. Windshield wipers dont work. They ''twitch'' when you turn them on but only go up a little. What would cause this?

I had a similar problem only recently. What happened was that some urchins got on top of my Gypsy MUV and started playing with the wiper blades. The wiper arm below the top plate came off the ball and socket joint and got stuck. I ran the wiper motor and after sometime found heat and smoke from where the motor is. Found it burnt. Had to change it. So. it could be a similar story with your wiper motor too. You are lucky that it is still working. The ball and socket joint has to be refit to ensure that the motion goes to the wiper arm. Do that please.

Front wipers stopped working

Try to run a ground test on the motor, If it gets power, then you neeed to replace the switch.. if it doesnt run with the ground test, then you need a wiper motor.

02 audi a4 quattro wipers won't park

If you can move the wiper arms by hand then the 13mm bolt on the motor has worked loose, remove the plastic windscreen trim under the bonnet , close the bonnet , then operate the wiper motor for 1 cycle , switch off , open the bonnet , loosen the 13 mm nut on the wiper motor , push wipers down to the park position , tighten 13mm nut up , close bonnet then check wiper operation , they should now park in the correct position .

Windshield wipers intermittent on 2002 Windstar

2002 Windstar wipers would come on by themselves, or not work set on intermittent, driver door lock would not work sometimes, ABS and brake light would come on sometimes, the problem was in the park switch inside the wiper motor. I replaced with wrecking yard wiper motor $44.95 w/13 month warranty. no more problem. check how many pins on connector plug, mine had 5 on the wiper motor side.Take the wiper assembly off of the metal cowl, 2 nuts, & I bolt, it is easier to snap the actuator pieces off of the wiper motor that way. God Bless JMR

Windscreen wipers do not return and only work on fastest setting

Use a 13mm wrench to loosen hex nut on wiper transmission, if this was previously adjusted. Ensure transmission linkages are parallel. tighten down hex nut. loosen hex nuts and adjust both wipers to bottom out just above the bottom of the windshield.
Can be a pain in the *** opening and closing the hood.
you should be all set
