Question about 2008 Volkswagen Beetle
There is also a lock mechanism that requires a 5mm deep well socket on an extension. This must be unlocked prior to thaking the locking lever on the outside of the headlight housing. The newer Beetle's have the stamp V2 (version 2) on the outside housing facing the motor.

They can be a real pain believe me.i recomend taking to dealer.if you want to try there is a hooked shaped plastic lever in the housing for headlight under bonnet..you have to release it by pushing in a plastic tag underneath it then push down hook the headlight SHOULD then slide forward so you can take it out.But they are a **** idea and i really would take it to a dealer

all you need is the bulb part of it,it just turns out from the back of it,and put the new one in it,be care full and don't touch the actual bulb part of it,your not supposed to touch them with your fingers hold it with a cloth rag or something but the old one just pulls out and the new on goes right in,and that's all there is to it,,good luck,i hope this help

You might have to jiggle the headlight while doing this, dust and rock particles get wedged in the tracks making it hard to slip out.

check the wiring from the headlight. You want to find the ground wire which is usually a black wire thats secured to some metal part of the car. Basically just check that all your wires are in tact and tightly secured. A bad ground is a very common electrical problem.

The procedure is in the owners manual, but it is not easy. You need to turn the wheels in (to right for drivers side) and then shut car off. Then you will need to loosen the inside front wheel well, which is plastic, until you can bend it out of the way enough to reach inside to the bulb. The bulb twists out with a 1/4 turn to the left and then unplugs. Just a hint, make sure that the gasket comes out with the bulb and that you only use one when you reinstall the new bulb. Since you have an LS you don't have fog lights, but that bulb is replaced the same way.
