SOURCE: harmonic balancer problems 96 honda accord

Hello, I dont mean to be the bearer of bad news but I have had three of these cars to do the same exact thing. The harmonic balance loosened up and it wore the end of the crankshaft and the balancer would not tighten up any more. The best option is to replace the crankshaft and balancer. There is not a quick fix fix this. Sorry. Please rate my answer. Thank you.

SOURCE: i removed my timing belt from my 1992 honda accord

The balance shafts have marks on their sprockets that line up with indents on the block. For the one with the pin, just use a drill bit shaft that seems to fit the best and look for the marks. You only have two choices as you turn the balance shaft and expose the alignment hole. One of those spots will have fairly obvious marks that line up at the sprocket. The other one has a mark toward the front of the block. I'll see if I can dig up a photo and post it. The other tricky part is tensioning the belts, it's done in two steps while half the tensioner is clamped in place by a spare timing cover bolt. If you need help with this, let me know.
Please, please don't forget to remove the alignment pin or the bolt you used to clamp the tensioner!

How to replace 1998 Ford conture blown head gasket need help never did one

Hi
If you haven't ever done one then i suggest take to a garage.
You need to take the engine head off.
Timing belt off.
Radiator flashed / change
all water hoses off and cleaned.
head pressure tested
head skimmed.
Oil flush
New oil and oil filter.

Its not a simple job. whilst everything is open. change the timing belt and water pump as well.

How do I remove the harmonic balancer/ crankshaft dampener bolt, do I turn clock wise or counter clock wise.

I would be rechecking the reason for the water getting into the sump as it may not need a head gasket at all
there are numerous cases of where the housing behind the pump impeller corrodes and lets water into the chain area and into the sump
the harmonic balancer bolt is a right hand thread so anticlockwise is the undo direction
best tool to use is a 1/2 drive impact gun as it undoes the nut with out the need to hold the crank from turning heads can be removed by using a broom handle stick jammed down beside the chain and removing the sprocket from the cam shaft
a good workshop manual will show how to do it which you should have as you will need instructions on valve timing, head tensions and other information

Need to replace harmonic balancer in 99 crv is there anything else I should replace at the same time?

If you're changing the balance, you may want to install new drive belts since the belts have to be removed to do the replacement of the balance. Also, check the key way to make sure it is not worn irregularly on the crankshaft.

I have a 2006 chevy trailblazer i change all the mounts inclunding the idol tentionor and its still vibrates and make niose when am in drive or reverse in park and neutal its fine but just when am in

If the harmonic balancer wobbles when the engine is running, it could cause a vibration. A typical balancer has a rubber seal between the balancer and the belt drive pulley. The rubber seal may have deteriorated.

How do i change the water pump which way does the pulley screw on the harmonic balancer turn in order to loosen the pulley?

You need a harmonic balancer puller to remove the harmonic balancer. Most auto parts stores that offer loaner tools will have one for you to use and they should have directions if you've never used one before. To replace a water pump, first drain your coolant, remove belt, unbolt and remove water pump, scrape old gasket material from block surface. Place your bolts into new pump, slide gaskets over bolts then attach to engine, reverse other steps, make sure to close radiator petcock (drain valve) fill with 50/50 coolant mixture and start your vehicle to make sure gaskets aren't leaking any coolant

I have a 1987 Dodge Ram 50 sport 2.6 litre the head gasket is blown how do i get the timing chain off to replace the gasket

You have to remove the oil pan - harmonic balancer - timing cover to replace timing chain... to replace cylinder head gasket and not the chain -- you need an assistant to hold the camshaft gear with chain on it. Suspending it with wire to keep the chain from moving the timing (do not let the chain relax as it will come off the crankshaft gear and change the timing)

I have a Kia Sportage 4wd 2002 with under 60000 miles. I lost power steering and when I took to mechanic they said I threw a belt(which they replaced with great difficulty) due to a bent or warped harmonic...

I got stuck paying dealer for new crank pulley not harmonic balancer as mechanic said. I am driving as little as possible until part comes in and can br put on. Hopefully, I will not damage the crank shaft or throw a belt.

I need a how to to change harmonic balancer for 1995 nissan maxima. step by step

First remove right front tire and support vehicle with a jack stand. Remove splash guard lower portion near the harmonic balancer. Remove all drive belts. First remove the A/C alternator belt. Loosen the 14mm bolt at the front of the belt tenioner and then loosen the tensioner bolt (it is the one that stands out, you use a socket on it.). The power steering adjuster bolt with be gained from the bottom. It has a 12mm bolt head on it. You will break the jamb bolt loose first and then loosen the adjusting bolt. Pull down on the belt the help move it after you've loosened it some. Then remove harmonic balancer bolt (19mm).If the harmonic balancer will not slide off the crankshaft then use a two finger gear puller. Place the harmonic balancer bolt back in the crankshaft but do not tighten it. Leave it about a half inch from being all the way in. Next place the puller onto the harmonic balancer (one finger on each side securely press into the belt groove. The center puller bolt will rest against the harmonic balancer bolt head. Tighten the puller bolt and make sure the harmonice balancer bolt does not turn. The balancer should come off at this point.
