'I disconnected the car battery/changed the car battery and now my car won't start'

Another common question on Fixya.
You've done nothing wrong. It's simply that the immobiliser doesn't recognise the key.

Put the key into the ignition. Turn the ignition on. Press the LOCK button twice on your remote. Wait 1 minute.

Turn the ignition off and press the UNLOCK button on the remote a couple of times. This will disarm the immobiliser.

The key should be recognised and your vehicle will start.

How do i completely remove the immobiliser in a 2000 lancer and replace with older non immobiliser type ignition

i think this would be an expensive excersise, try removing the fuse to the central locking , because if you change the immobiliser system you will loose the central/power locking any way, i don't know what problems your experiencing but i've done this on our hyundai coupe because of immobiliser problems and unlocking drivers door manually ie with the key has cured our problem ,worth a try i'd have thought

No power to instrument cluster or windows, radio, turn signals, etc

firstly did you do the change with the battery off ?
secondly what happen to warrant the change of the ignition ?
if you did this with the battery still on you could of damaged the ignition module or the immobiliser and if you did take the battery off and not left it for 10min before starting then you could off damaged the ignition module as it takes around 10min to lose the power stored in it.

Red immobiliser light flashing rapidly

a blown fuse will not emit a smell unless its blown violently, This means dead short, If you have a dead short that would explain the dead battery and the lack of co operation of the jumping it. Has the car got a system in it? this is going to have to be a large short to create what your describing

Immobiliser wont go off , wont unlock the doors.

There is a way to override the code, however you need the code number. The only other way is to sit in car with door shut, play with the central locking button on dash, locking and unlocking. While doing this occassionally turn the ignition on and off. If you do it long enough, you may find the immobiliser light goes out, if it does, quickly start the car.
