First of all you need to find the power steering adjuster you will find this beside power steering pump there is a locking nut on pulley slacken that then slacken off adjusters once you have done that you will be able to remove belt same applies for slackening alt belt make sure you slacken of locking bolt otherwise you will bend adjuster bolt.hope this helps you.

Where to find power steering motor on a 2007 Chevy hhr ls

SURELY you jest it is not a motor but a pump and if you look at the motor and the belt it goes around a pulley for the water pump, power steering pump, alternator and crankshaft .

The battery light came on at that point i was unable to turn the steering wheel

your car is fitted with PAS (power steering) when your engine is not running, the power steering pump will not function, thus making the steering heavy (feels like you cant move it, but you actually can, its just very very stiff and hard) when the battery light came on, and the steering went off, this is a sign that your ALTERNATOR (the battery charger) and POWER STEERING PUMP are on the same BELT, thus if the belt snaps, the light comes on and the steering gets heavy/stuck/hard.

You need to fit a new alternator belt as yours has more than likely snapped (common for all cars) and unless a new belt is fitted, you battery will go flat after a while too, as the alternator is the batteries power source (charger) when the engine is running! however the car will still drive/run, but i wouldnt advice it, as this will soon shorten the batteries power.

If you dont know how to fix it, you need to go to a garage/mechanic and tell them you need: A NEW ALTERNATOR BELT FITTING (they will charge for this service) this should then solve your problem!!

Changeing a power steering pump

CHANGING POWER STEERING PUMP YOU HAVE TO PLACE A DRAIN PAN UNDER THE VECHICLE. SIPHON OUT POWER STEERING FLUID WITH A SIPHONER DONT USE YOUR MOUTH TO SIPHON SWALLOWING POWER STEERING FLUID CAN BE FATAL MAKE YOU SICK.WHEN ALL POWER STEERING FLUID IS REMOVED FROM POWER STEERING PUMP.REMOVE DRIVE BELT.THEN REMOVE THE POWER STEERING PUMP.THEN YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THE POWER STEERING PUMP PULLEY THE NEW POWER STEERING PUMP DONT HAVE A PULLEY YOU HAVE TO HAVE REMOVE PULLEY FROM THE OLD POWER STEERING PUMP.YOU NEED A PUMP PULLEY REMOVER AND A PULLEY INSTALLER.YOU CAN TAKE OLD POWER STEERING PUMP AND NEW POWER STEERING PUMP TO A MACHINE SHOP.THEY WILL REMOVE PULLEY OFF OLD PUMP PRESS IT ON NEW POWER STEERING PUMP.THAT WOULD BE CHEAPER THAN BUYING THE PULLER AND INSTALLER.GO TO AUTO PARTS STORE BUY NEW HIGH PRESSURE LINE O RING GOES TO PRESSURE LINE GOING INTO POWER STEERING PUMP.ONCE YOU GET NEW PUMP READY PULLEY BEEN PRESSED ON.TAKE POWER STEERING PUMP HOME PUT IT ON. BLEED POWER STEERING SYSTEM.WHAT YOU DO WHEN YOU GET NEW PUMP INSTALLED HIGH PRESSURE LINE IN PLACE.PUMP BOLTED IN DRIVE BELT ON POUR POWER STEERING FLUID IN POWER STEERING PUMP UNTIL FLUID LEVEL STOP DROPPING AND YOUR LEVEL ON POWER STEERING DIP STICK AT COLD LEVEL.NOW START CAR UP LET IT IDLE FOR 3 MINUTES.THEN TURN OFF ENGINE CHECK POWER STEERING FLUID IF FLUID LEVEL DROP ADD LITTLE MORE UNTIL LEVEL ON DIP STICK ON COLD MARK DONT OVER FILL.NOW SAFELY RAISE SUPPORT FRONT OF VECHICLE. START THE ENGINE.TURN STEERING WHEEL FROM ALL THE WAY FROM LEFT TO RIGHT DONT STOP LOCK WHEEL .GO LEFT TO RIGHT SEVERAL TIMES.THEN TURN OFF ENGINE CHECK FLUID LEVEL.IF ALL IS GOOD LET VECHICLE BACK DOWN LET IT SIT FOR A WHILE CHECK FLUID AGAIN.DONT DRIVE VECHICLE IF POWER STEERING PUMP MAKE NOISES OR YOUR STEERING FEEL STIFF HARD TO TURN.JUST MAKE SURE FLUID LEVEL RIGHT AND DRIVE BELT TIGHT GOOD LUCK.

My car is hard to steer the power steering went out

hi from the uk thr reason your power steering has gone is most probably the pumps drive belt has snapped or the power steering oil has leaked from somewhere ? open the hood and investigate power steer oil level and whether belt is snapped it may be still in engine bay ? it is a simple job to fit new belt and can be purchased at most good auto supermarkets/stores and if you charm the guy at store he may also fit it too ? best wishes from n/west uk

Power steering pump and battery?

It could be the fanbelt has snapped which drives the power steering pump and the alternater too, please check the belts.

My power steering has gone out.

Have checked if the belt is there on the power steering pump?
It could just be tht the belt has snapped thus the pump not functioning and thus the tough steering wheel!

A belt snapped, leaked antifreeze and no power steering

If it was the timing belt, the car would have quit right then and there.
It's the belt that drives the fan, water pump and power steering.
Probably what they call the serpintine belt.
