Re: my right front door dosnt lock
Do you live in a cold environment? If so you may have some moisture in the locking mechanism causing it to become stiff. Even if you don't live in a cold area your locking mechanism may need to be lubricated. One other possibility is failure of the mechanism it self. You can find instructions to remove the inner door pannel here Once you have the door pannel off you can inspect and lubricate the mechanism and hopefully find the issue and resolve it. Check your computer connectors, maybe need some cleaning. Sometimes, you just have to unplug it and connect it back again. If your car is old, the doors have to be adjusted sometimes. There is a bump limiter on some cars when the bonnet is closed, so you might need to adjust it so that the bonnet will not sway the other way from the switch. On cars, lock catches are also being adjusted every interval. The rubbers on the car also contribute to this problem once they are a little bit old. The switches wear more easily when the alignment of the doors are faulty.
use the car key itself from outside the vehicle with everything closed: use key in drivers door outside door lock and manually lock and unlock the door. check if fixed, may have to do a few times. i do believe the vehicle is in theft mode.
lock with key, electric door lock button,or remote and alarm will set. to disarm you have to use the key or remote to open it.the reason it woulnt disarm from drivers door is either the door lock cylinder switch is broken or the wire to it in the rubber boot that connects the door and the body is broken.
the remotes are cheap and programing is easy, procedure in owners manuel something like lock drive door with elkect. lock switch with door open then push and hold unlock untill doors unlock then turn key off.you may have to fix that drive door lock cyl.switch first though mabee not dont know for sure
Your car thinks a door is open , thus the light stays on. When you lock the doors with the remote it activates the alarm system. 10 sec later it senses that the a door is open and alarm sounds.
I have a 99 passat as well and I just went outside to see where the switch on the door is. Can't see one anywhere , it must be inside the door (part of the latch mechanism). I tried to arm the alarm system by locking the doors with the remote while the door was still open , sure enough the alarm went off about 15 secs later.
well the alarm and door lock issue is due to a bad door switch,,,its telling the cars computer the door is open when its not causing the alarm to go off and the locks not to lock its works then doesnt the switch just freak vout then are ok,most likely d/side door switch its actually on the side of the dash a little rod that sticks out,,replace it if it still does it do the other side, but thats a common issue
one of the front door latches is out of adjustment or bad. when you lock it at the trunk try the front doors to see if they might still open when the alarm is set if so that is your bad latch. bad news is to replace it you will need to tear down the entire inside of door
assuming you don't have an owners manual for the car either, my guess would be to use the key to lock, then unlock the door from the outside. It should disarm the alarm when unlocking and entering the vehicle in the usual manner.
put your key in the drivers side from the outside door and turn the key one time to the right to lock your car and two times to unlock it and if your having trouble with the alarm going off open the trunk with the key to disable the alarm if it turned on.
