Any modification has some degree of danger to it, but as long as it is installed correctly. there shouldn't be any danger. just keep in mind the limits of your vehicle. case in point by brother bought my dad a bully dog mod for a 06 ford f150 fx4. great system and will provide major gas and towing improvements but my dad mr computer illiterate just went and hooked it up without updating the mod controller....fried the computer in the truck. covered under warrenty with a few little white lies but still a 2400 dollar lesson that didnt needed to happen. final note just make sure you follor the instruction and if need be call the mod manufacturer if you have to.

good luck

1990 toyota pickup running lean, bored 30 thosands, high compression pistons 10;1 ,performance cams, headers dual exaust,NO EGR ? Will the x3 performance chip solve my problem.

i would speculate that you are introducing quite a bit more air/oxygen into your combustion chamber resulting in your lean condition. Keep in mind most performance chips advance timing and further lean the air fuel ratio for increased power. I would suggest an air/fuel converter such as greddy safc or similar to increase the amount of fuel your engine is getting.

How do you install a performance chip on an 09 mustang?

What kind of "chip"? A true performance programmer plugs into the vehicle's OBD-II port under the dash. Some cheap "chips" alter the intake air temperature circuit, which I would advise you stay away from, they're not worth it.

How much damage can a performance chip do

Performance chips likely don't harm anything... basically they alter the fuel and advance curve of the engine. Depending upon how the vehicle is used, sometimes they can give slight performance enhancement and even better fuel mileage.
If you do some research on them though, most of the advertised gains are so far out of the usable rpm range that the cost/benefit of a chip is downright foolish. (will a hp and torque increase at 4,000-5,000rpm help when the engine rarely sees that?)
On older GM vehicles a cheap performance gain could be had by swapping a chip from a heavier vehicle (like a Cadillac chip in a nova) That makes the computer think its moving a heavy vehicle and adds lots of power on the bottom end. (don't know if you can do that anymore though)
Bottom line is that they wont hurt anything but often won't give the advertised miracles they claim.

Good morning! There are speed shops around that have made performance chips for your vehicle application. The one we use in Arkansas is street and performance out of little rock. They also have a location in Mena Arkansas. Check with your local speed shop or check these guys out on the web. Yes they do work but if you spend the money make sure you buy a brand name one not sure $20. one off the internet do some research. One the the easiest ways would to be just to buy a K&N air filter and have a exhaust shop put on perforamance exhaust or buy it you're seft most kits are easy and bold right on

Auto Performance moduals (or Chips)

If you want to get a chip. you are best to deal with a reputable parts supply company and get a chip which is going to do what you want. There are guys that will burn you a chip, ask around some of the different local car and tuner clubs they can put you on to the local guys that burn chips. Just don't get too crazy as performance chips for a lot of hp, can put a lot of strain on a stock engine. Keep in mind that hp cost's money. Trying to cheat to get large hp can cost you a lot more than doing it right the first time, blocks are not cheap.

Hope this helps.

Do after market performance chips work ?

A legitimate replacement chip can maybe void the warranty, but also be made to change engine characteristics to supply more power or better economy but will not likely do both.  Otherwise, why wouldn't the manufacturer use different performance curve?
Beware of something offered by hundreds of 'affiliates' that does nothing but tamper with the air-fuel ratio and sells for $20-$80 US and 'installs in minutes.' The vast majority of the 16,000+ offers on eBay are total frauds and many of the rest may alter the pollution output of the engine to the point that in some states could cost you even more than the chip.
"Super-chips"
Continue doing research before you spend even 'only a few bucks' on any of them.   I totally understand the urge, I still get it too, but lose it again after doing due diligence before ordering.
