2003 Neon SXT Tranny Oil In Radiator

About three weeks ago our 2003 SRT Neon was slipping. Then we saw some smoke from engine compartment. We got car to our mechanic's shop. He said that the tranny oil was gettting into radiator and antifreeze was getting into tranny because radiator tranny oil cooler had failed. He replaced radiator with new and flushed tranny and engine several times. Car drove ok after that so we thought it was fixed.
Now today, the car was steaming some from under hood. Upon investigating found antifreeze on top of radiator. Looked under radiator cap and found tranny oil in radiator. Called mecanic and he says tranny oil pressure must be so high as to blow seals on radiator tranny oil cooler. He says probably have to replace transmission. Anyone else ever had this problem in their Neon? Do you know what is causing this?

yeah, my radiator also went bad. antifreeze got into the tranny, tranny fluid got into the cooling system, due to an increase in fluids, the tranny-anti freeze mixture got onto the engine and the floor via the overflow.

When something like this happens, there's 3 things that need to be fixed. First the radiator, because it's broken, duh. One also needs to flush out the tranny fluid from the cooling system. However it's vital to either replace the transmission in extreme conditions, and in less extreme conditions, replace all the seals and gaskets due to the anti-freeze/water mixture wearing them out.

I'm not possitive but there is usually a vent tube on top of the transmission, may be possible that dirt or something is clogging it up. That would cause the tranny to build up pressure. But to blow the seal on a new radiator, I wouldn't imagine that. My opinion would be that the new radiator wasn't put together correctly. But just in case the vent tube did cause it to let go, check the vent. I hope that you find the problem. Best wishes.

I have a 2003 Dodge Neon SXT. We just had the oil changed and now it makes an intermittent chirping noise when underway. It did this once before after an oil change, but the noise eventually went away. ...

Odds are it could be your engine belts slipping. If it is only intermittent then it is really nothing to worry about, but it is slightly annoying. Make sure your belts have enough tension, if not tighten them. If so, you may pick up a can of belt dressing at an auto parts store an follow the directions on it. Basically you spray it on the belt to quiet the chirp.

My 2003 dodge neon sprays the transmission fluid all over the front of the engine block almost as if it was coming from the radiator fan. How do i find the leak?

The radiator has tranny coolant passeges that are pressurized. You obviously sprung a leak in the radiator.Clean everything off w/Engine Degreaser or brake cleaner. Have someone start engine for a moment and look closely at front of radiator facing engine for the leak

Where is the shift solenoid located on a 2003 dodge neon sxt

the trans shift solenoid pack is bolted to the side of the trans closer to the radiator. it is rather large and there are three 10mm bolts holding it to the trans. it is under the input speed sensor and just under the spot where the cooler lines go into the trans.

Saw oil leak and really worried

Our son just replaced the front crankshaft seal on his but the check engine light wouldn't turn on unless the oil level had gotten way too low.
Said the replacement wasn't that difficult but he had to do it twice as a gasket did not align correctly the first time.
