Turn ignition key to position 1 with the radio on. If you leave it on for a few hours, the screen should say "code". then you have to input the radio code. Your local dealership should provide you with that

You need to get the code from the dealer to unlock the stereo. right now it 'thinks' it has been stolen (happens when the power supply is removed from the stereo).

Stero killing battery while car is shut off.

Usually car stereo's have two wires that supply power, aside from the ground. One has power all of the time, for your memory and clock. The second is for when you turn the ignition key on, to allow the stereo to come on. It sounds like you have a power wire going to the the wrong one.

Can't get the stereo to work. It says lock on the screen.

There is a code that must be entered to unlock the unit, it came with the owners manual package, if you don't have that material you will have to contact the dealer for help, each unit has a different code, these are to deter theft.

1992 960 volvo wagon 208k. Daughter left lights on drained battery - jump started and driving well, however stereo won't work now. Any ideas????

If it is a combined radio/stereo system the drained battery may have caused it to lose it's code - you will need to re-enter the radio code to make it work properly. This is similar to removing the battery from the car - you have to re-enter the radio code before the radio will work.

If there's no power at all to your stereo it's possible that jump-starting the car has caused a power surge that has blown a fuse. Depending on what type of radio/stereo is fitted, there usually is a small in-line fuse in the wiring at the rear of the unit. Check the fuse.
