There has to be some type of battery hold down device. It usually clamps down the small tabs on each side of the battery

How do you change battery

Same philosophy regardless of vehicle or equipment.
CAUTION! Battery contains acid which can also be present in general area. Take appropriate precautions.
1) Dis-connect Negative terminal.
2) Disconnect Positive terminal.
3) Remove battery hold down brackets
4) Remove battery from vehicle. Rinse hands to make sure no acid on them
5) Clean terminal connections (battery post clamps). I use a weak solution of baking soda in water and soak the clamps until the foaming stops, then rinse well with fresh water. It's a good idea to rinse the battery tray with the baking soda solution and then water before installing the new battery.
6) Place the new battery in the correct position in the vehicle.
7) Re-install the hold down brackets.
8) Connect the positive cable to the positive battery terminal.
9) Connect the negative cable to the Negative battery terminal.
10) Start engine to check.
11) All done, Make sure the hood is closed.
12) Nap time.

Do you have instructions on how to change the battrery in a 2001 VW passat GLS?

Battery lives under windshield forward plastic panel and can be removed by peeling off the fire wall compartment seal to release the cover.

Put car in P or neutral.. remove ignition key. Obtain your radio code from records you have or dealership.

Open hood.

With 10mm wrench disconnect GROUND negative clamp on battery.

Ditto to Positive clamp. ( Do it in this order !.)

With 10mm socket, undo battery holder clamp in front of battery and lift away clamp and nuts.

Lift away battery.

Install new battery fitting the Positive battery clamp first then other parts as removed.

Do not bounce the GROUND battery clamp on the battery post as you install it as this can cause electrical damage to on-board electronics.

2006 jetta 2.5 battery removal and install

Here's a diagram that helps

http://www.autozone.com/autozone/catalog/parts/jobDiagram.jsp?engineCyl=5&ymmeId=2006/54/10/78&categoryDisplayName=Batteries&productType=00&parentId=175

pretty much, take off the old terminals, if theyre good, just replace the battery and screw them back together. they might need a cleaning, so get a cleaner for it at an auto parts store, someone working there can give you an idea of what to look for. disconnect the negative first. then positive. take out the battery. there might be a wedge under the battery holding it down so it doesn't move. loosen the bolt to be able to get the battery out. put in the new battery in the same position the old one was, tighten the wedge, then then connect positive terminal, then the negative terminal.

Refer to the fastener tightening specifications shown on the accompanying illustration. During installation of the lower radiator hose connection, insert the hose as far as the projection of the water inlet fitting. Align the matchmarks on the hose and hose clamp, then connect the hose.

Rear brakes (2006 VW jetta) Caliper/ Piston- I am replacing my brack pads and resurfacing my rotors. First we could not find the Triple square (Napa auto parts) but now we are unable to get the piston to...

I had the exact problem today on my in-laws 06 jetta. Come to find out - this model has an electrical parking brake in the rear. The piston will not go in manually like other disc brakes. You must disconnect the electrical wire in the back and run a jumper to the connection from a power source like the battery and the piston will go in.

  • Install the positive battery cable.
  • Then install the negative cable.
  • When installing a battery, be careful to observe the correct polarity. Reversing the cables destroys the diodes. Proper polarity must also be observed when connecting a booster battery, positive to positive and negative to ground.
