Same problem for me in my 1999 Regal, but no air flows through at all. Do you think my fan might be broken?

Similar Problem, but hot air only blows out of passenger side, cold air comes out of driver side. Any ideas on what and how to fix.

How do I find this door?

  • Anonymous Mar 17, 2014

my engine runs hot but when I turn on my defroster & heater I only get cold air

some tell me by just turning off the fan blower, I would think it would have a seperate turn off where the other options are like the heater, normal for a/c, vent, defroster, etc.

Sounds like you have a stuck blend door in the HVAC system. If its not controled by vacuum the servo motor is bad or the vacuum line is bad. This door moves back and forth to go from vent to floor to defrost. and you have one to go from cold side to hot side. Hope this helps you

My windows are not defrosting properly.

Do you have heat? Does the fan turn on? are you getting air from the defroster vents close to the windshield? If you have heat make sure the defrost control is working. I'd open the outside air vent and turn the blower on high speed. If there is no heat, the heater control valve is not working. Double check the radiator fluid tank, make sure you have enough fluid (antifreeze) Low fluid levels can reduce the hot water flow to the heater coil inside the car. If there
is no air flow through the defroster vents you may have a problem with the fan control, or the fan motor. Good luck.

1984 buick regal heater is not working. fan turns on but blows only cold air. any suggestions

The heater will only work if it has hot water flowing through the heater core. What you need to do is determine why there is no hot water flowing! Most likely the thermostat is stuck open and not allowing the water in the engine to become hot enough to create the heat you want or the water is not circulating properly to run through the heater core or the system incorporates a water control valve (because of A/C) and stops the water from entering the heater core. Armed with the knowledge of what the system incorporates will help with solving the problem. Also if the radiator is very low on coolant it will cause the same problem. Check the system and you should find the problem. If not, get on the computer and tell me what you have found and together maybe we will find the answer.

2000 buick regal winshield will not defrost i have ice inside and out

If you are getting heat inside the car, the defroster should also work. There is a control switch problem that doesn't switch to defrost from heat, or the compressor for the air conditioner is not provides heat for defrosting as very dry air to the heater box.

The heater in our 2004 jeep did not heat the cab very well this winter. I change the thermostat and did a heater core flush but it didn't seem to help much. What else might it be ? Thanks ....Bruce...

might be the damper door stuck..are you getting full air flow thru all vents and defroster but it is just cold?
if full flow but cold..most likely damper ..

I have a 1998 Buick Park Avenue Ultra. I get cold air from the heater. One hose to the heater core gets hot, one stays cold. I have already back-flushed the heater core and also disconnected the...

If one hose is hot and the other is cold it is because the coolant is not circulating through the heater core. There is nothing else that can cause this. (no valves in the system, etc.)

Make sure that the heater core outlet hose (the one that is cold) is not kinked or pinched to prevent proper flow. If this is OK then replace the heater core. I have seen heater cores that look like they are passing water well enough when flushed with a hose but were too resricted to pass the low-pressure water from the water pump.

Where is mass air flow senser on a 1989 buick regal

Thanks for using FixYa. The BUICK Regal Mass Air Flow sensor is usually installed in the intake air duct between the air filter and the throttle body mounted on the intake manifold. Also check the throttle body for mass air flow sensors location.
On mass air flow sensors with a sense wire, this wire can become contaminated with dust particles. These particles can be removed with automotive solvents that are safe for the use on mass air flow sensors. Before replacing the mass air flow sensor check for air leaks in the connecting air ducts and intake manifold. These leaks can cause similar symptoms as a malfunctioning mass air flow sensor.

Bad or contaminated BUICK Regal Mass Air Flow sensor can possibly cause a wide range of various vehicle drivability problems such as stalling, especially when the engine is cold, misfiring, poor acceleration, etc. In addition, a problem with the Mass Air Flow sensor often causes the "check engine" or "service engine soon" light in the vehicle instrument panel to illuminate.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Blower vents on 86 regal

The blend door in the heater box itself is what directs the air to where it needs to go as per selector switch. The heater box is located under the dash.
