I know nothing about cars, I was wondering if I should try calling the dealership or any repair shop, and get a quote, do you know how much it should cost to fix it?

Would it be best to call around for a quote or call a Chevy dealership and see if they can help?

I called 1 repair shop and they said around $100 but could not be for sure without working on the car. Should I keep calling around or take it in there?

There are plastic clips along the bottom of the door that come loose. there is a screw where the door handle is that holds the plastic in and there may be 2 more screws near the top that have to come out so that you can remove the panel. the plastic clips that hold the bottompart you have to be careful you dont break them but they are replaceable at any parts store

How to remove door panel

More than likely you care about the "look of a quality" removal and reinstall, unless you are about to scrap the car. Panel removal is difficult even for experienced body shops. With that in mind find a repair manual, possibly your library or http://www.filepeep.com/ if they have it, or http://www.manualslib.com/ or your dealer Some Auto parts stores carry repair manuals and may have detail about door panel removal. All devices on the people compartment side of the panel must be removed. Many are tricky. Then there are clips that hold the panel to the door frame metal. Clips are difficult
to remove without possible damage. A putty knife and screwdriver to very carefully pry the panel may allow you to see where the clips are Check eBay for door panel clips so you know what they look like. There may be special tools that help remove the clips without damage. Ebay may have them also. Good luck.
If you get lucky there may be a youtube demonstration for how to do it properly.

Hope this helps you make the right decission. Good luck.

DRIVERS DOOR ON 35000 GMC CREW CAB WONT OPEN

This is a pain of a job. you need to remove the drivers seat and then remove the drivers door panel.
Unfortunately there is no way to remove the door panel with the seat in place without risking damaging the panel.

On a 2004 cavalier, my rear driver side door wont open from the inside or out. i removed the door panels, compared the two to find the mechinism that opens the door is broken or jamed. i tryed everything...

Unbolt the hinges at the other end of the door and unbolt the pin that the the door latch locks on. The pin nut is behind the seat back. Be careful that the door doesn't fall on the floor and get scratched up. Good Luck

2005 Chevy Cavalier Power Window Motor Fix?

the cheapest way to replace your window motor would be to go to a salvage yard to get the replacement. they are not very hard to install the hardest part of the job is removing the door panel without breaking the clips that hold it in place. just slide a big flathead screwdriver in between the plastic door panel and the metal door frame and twist the screwdriver that way the clips wont break on you.

Door panel toyota

three steps.

1. locate screw holes for door handle (and other areas maybe) and remove. the screws may be located behind plugs that you remove with small flat screw driver
2. disconnect and remove power lock/window unit, usually pries up from one end (rear of car) and slides out. be careful not to stracth leather or upholstry
3. using screwdriver, pry bar, nail bar or other flat piece of metal pry panel away from door one clip at a time. try to pry near the clip, otherwise you risk damaging the panel's interior

post another problem if you get further and still have trouble.

You need to replace the electric solenoid/actuator for the door lock. The door panel pulls off very easily.
