2005 chrysler 300 steering problem

Just recently my power steering has a problem. When I turn the wheel, it almost seems like there is a hard spot to turn, I would say maybe a 1/4 turn either way and it would steer hard for about 2 to 3 inches then it would let go and steer normal, then while turning back to straighten the car out, I would hit the same spot and do the same thing. This happens it turning in both directions, right as well as left. What could be the problem, I haven't taken the car to my mechanic yet, but I think it might be the power steering pump. let me know what you think. Thanks, Paul

U have a failed steering rack internal seal, the leakage causes the hard spot, most likely the seal surface is scored allowing fluid to leak by at a certain position of the wheel. Try getting a bottle of LUCAS oil brand power steering sealer and conditioner, it really works. also check and see if the PS fluid is disclored, if it is get a cheap turkey baster and **** out as much fluid as possiable and add clean fluid.

Why my key want turn for 300 chrysler 300

If the key won\'t turn it suggests the steering wheel is pressing hard on the stop that locks it. Try twisting the steering wheel left and right while attempting to turn the key. That happened to me once when I parked on a hill and turned the wheels so it would bump the curb and not roll away. I had to jerk the steering wheel pretty hard before it let go. If that doesn\'t fix it you may have a real problem inside the switch where something came loose and is blocking the switch from turning. I sure hope jerking the wheel with fix this for you.

Power steering problem

Sounds like the pump pressure valve is not working when cold and should be replaced.> It is inside the pump where the pressure line connects to the pump.

fixing the problem that caused the light to come on would be the only way. It is monitored by the computer so you cant really trick it.

When turning into a parking spot, all of a sudden my steering wheel seemed as though it "Locked Up".. not as it would if the car was shut off, but like I lost power steering. A light came on on the dash. I...

It is most likely you just turned the wheel to the farthest limit of its travel, and the power assist cutout at that point.

Check your fluid level to make sure its up to where it should be.

If fluid is fine, I wouldn't worry about it...it is fine and a normal occurance.

Transmission lever will not move out of park

Start it up, step on the brake, and turn the steering wheel hard to the left or to the right to release the shifter.
