Question about 2005 Cadillac STS

1 Answer

2005 cadillac sts remote transmitter

Could cold temperature outside be causing car to be unresponsive to remote transmitter? All of a sudden car nothing works remotely. Car still recognizing FOB, but remote start, trunk release, door locks, panic alarm arent working. Did replace batteries in transmitter and had them tested. They are fine just not operating anything.. Problems are with both transmitters. What in the car could be respondsible for this. Could the cold weather be causing this failure?

I'm in eastern Pa. It has recently gotten pretty cold here, like 10' F. It seems like that is when they stopped working. Actually it seemed like the battery in the transmitter itself were going bad (like youd have to hit buttons) more then once to unlock doors. So changed batteries in transmitters. Then they just stopped working all together. Although the transmitter is needed to start the car ,Luckily the car will still start . More or less the car is acting like valet mode is turned on but it isnt.

Car has push button start. It does have DIC but I have never seen an option for reprogramming remote. There is a place in center console for reprogramming a newly purchased remote. I assume this is how I would reprogram the remote. I am weary of trying this because of car not useing key to start. But will try later today once the snow melts. If it is a receiver problem. Is that something only cadillac service dept. can do or can I have it done anywhere? I just spent $65.00 on wiper blade refills which is crazy!!! But cadillac dealer is the only place that carries them. Is that how its going to be everytime something goes wrong with this car?

Why won't my python remote start ce0890 work when it's very cold out?

You are not the only one with this issue. If the remote starter has sensors on the hood to tell it when the hood is up, I would check to see if there is an adjustment on this sensor. When it gets cold the specs on the sensor are changing and it opens the sensor. This may be because of metal parts of the car or the sensor contracting in the cold.

Iv got vauxhall zafria model 2004 outside temperature symbol is not coming on dashboard is that a big problem should take it straight to gargage

No outside temperature just shows the temperature outside the car the snowflake symbol will not show up until it is cold enough outside it has 2 stages yellow is an initial warning of cold temperatures when it gets to freezing the symbol will turn red.
The outside temp warning is not connected to anything mechanical only the engine temerature gauge is so dont worry it will not affect the running of the car but is just there as a warning of falling temperatures outside.

2002 Chevrolet Cavalier Remotes not working. door locks works in side but not with remote. batterys ok and they are transmiting. just stop work one day.

If you know for sure that the transmitters are transmitting (tested on a key fob tester), and the remotes are the correct ones for your vehicle (haven't been recently replaced with a different part number), then you may need to simply re-synchronize your transmitters to the vehicle. This is different than reprogramming the transmitters, but uses the same method on the remotes.
To resynchronize, Stand within 5 feet of the car, with the remotes. Press and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the REMOTE for about 7-10 seconds. If the transmitter was out of sync with the car, the horn will chirp to confirm it is now synchronized. If this method does not work, then the transmitters will have to be programmed to the vehicle, which requires a scan tool to do. Good luck :)

Alarm set problem

Car alarms are common accessories on vehicles around the world, and often take advantage of keyless remote capabilities. These systems have a transmitter installed into your car, and you can then sync your remotes to the transmitter in just minutes. If your remote is not working, it is usually the fault of the battery. You can easily replace the battery and reset the programming sequence to be sure that the signal has not been lost, and have your remote ready to use in just minutes.
