1985 Ford F-150 351w H.O. 4bbl, C-6, 4x4, new soleniod, brain box, dist. ignition switch under column also. It just cranks like no fire then when you sometimes let the key off after cranking it will start up and run or it just burbbles like it wants to start. When it does run it runs fine.......any ideas?

I would check the timing on this bad boy as it sounds to be off by a few degrees.

Brain box

It could be the ignition module or brain box, but I doubt it.
Your complaint sounds more like weak spark plug wires and dist cap. Have you inspected or replaced them yet ?

I have a 88 7.5 l econovan and iits not firing ive put all new parts in the dist. and a coil .the coil will fire when the key is first turned on.what do i do from there

Has the ignition starter switch ever been replaced? If not replace it, it is only a few dollars and easy to replace. The switch is located on the top of the steering column near the bottom, a large connector goes to it. Drop the column down by removing the two bolts that retain it to the underside of the dash to see the switch and access it frog replacement

Will turn over without fire, replaced brain and the ignition coil

bet on the module,if it's tfi it's on the side of the dist.85 could be either way,may be the older fender mounted module.
If it's dist. mounted Ford recomends replacing the pick up coil also. There is a wire with a plug on the tfi's ,you remove the "cap" to set the timing, just 2 wires with a gray cap on the end.Maybe that's the wire you mentioned.

No power in cab of truck no lights work

Check harness with test light over on drives side under hood, you'll see a few connector that go into the fire wall, check at connector at both ends of plug for voltage, also check for fuse links at stater solenoid.

When i worked for a Ford dealership in 1989 there were many issues with ignition switch contacts. They tended to work loose, make poor contact and burn wires.
A new switch, connectors and wires will be needed to repair.
