Question about 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Loud squealing sound in my engine

I have a 05 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited: every time I accelerate there is a loud squealing sound in my engine; I changed the tensioner pulley, idler pulley & Serpentine Belt. The sound is still there. What else could it be??
My 1996 Jeep Cherokee has started making a squealing sound, despite a new belt and new water pump. The AC pulley spins fine, and the sound seems to be coming from the damper pulley. The sound also increases with engine speed, but occasionally disappears completely when in gear, or on some days. Belt too tight/loose? Any other thoughts?

my 2002 chevy trailblazer has had a loud screaching sound that dies down at highway speeds. when i remove the belt the sound is gone. ive already replaced the idler pulley, belt, tensioner, and had to replace the ac compressor\ pulley (for different reason).

Try removing the belt and turning each pulley by hand. If everything is smooth and free, with the belt still off, drive down the block once and see if the noise is there (this will eliminate all rotating accessories on the front). If you hear the noise, then there is a problem deeper inside. Oil pressure is good? Dont' forget when doing this, you will have no power steering, so be careful.

Cold weather squeal

Check your belts and pulleys. Belts should not be cracked and pulleys should turn freely with no noise.

06 Jeep Wrangler making a loud clincking or grinding when turning

Hi there,

By any chance is the transfer case engaged?

A locked drive train could account for the noise being made only on turns.

Bring the transfer case to neutral then back to 2-high.

Or try to duplicate the problem by putting it into 4-high. THAT way the dealership would know exactly what to look at.

I have a 1990 jeep YJ replaced the alternator and now there is a loud screeching noise replaced the belt, replaced new bearing in idler pulley still makes a loud screeching noise?

If the belt is not tense enough it will squeal, so make sure it's tight enough. Otherwise you can use a stethoscope or long screwdriver up to your ear to isolate the source of the noise.

I have a 2008 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, and bought it new. I perform regular oil changes, and drive very little. A few months after the last oil change I noticed the oil light come on very briefly, then...

You probably spun a bearing. My wifes 2000 ford mustang did the same thing she never checked the oil and she said the oil light would come on briefly and oil empty filled back and knocking during acceleration and idle tore apart motor and there were three spun bearings.
