Question about 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee
I have a 05 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited: every time I accelerate there is a loud squealing sound in my engine; I changed the tensioner pulley, idler pulley & Serpentine Belt. The sound is still there. What else could it be??
My 1996 Jeep Cherokee has started making a squealing sound, despite a new belt and new water pump. The AC pulley spins fine, and the sound seems to be coming from the damper pulley. The sound also increases with engine speed, but occasionally disappears completely when in gear, or on some days. Belt too tight/loose? Any other thoughts?
Try removing the belt and turning each pulley by hand. If everything is smooth and free, with the belt still off, drive down the block once and see if the noise is there (this will eliminate all rotating accessories on the front). If you hear the noise, then there is a problem deeper inside. Oil pressure is good? Dont' forget when doing this, you will have no power steering, so be careful.
