Question about 2000 Daewoo Leganza

Engine won't turn over and continur running

I have been driving my car (2000 Daewoo Leganza SE, DOHC, Autimatic, 2.2 L., D-Tec) normally, but last week it started to make a loud noise under the hood (the best way to describe it is like having a hemi under the hood, but in a bad way).

I didn't drive it for a week and upon trying to start it to better diagnose the problem, it started, but wouldn't contine to run. After "gunning" the engine, the car blew white smoke from the exhaust as well as dripping a black liquid from the tail pipe and blowing blackened chips of a rubber- like material on to the ground behind it.

I recently added more oil to the engine after the oil indicator light started turning on when I made left hand turns. I have also had a slow coolent leak from the seal on the hose leading into the radiator.

We have had several days of below freezing temperatures as well.

The car is used with 140000+ miles on it, but when I bought it, it had been serivced and inspected and anything wrong was fixed.

Can anyone help?

Cant be positive without seeing it but with everything you described it sounds one of your rubber exhaust valve guides may have broken. You will have to remove the valve cover and push rods to find out. I don't like to make guesses at things but I would put a good bet on it.

Which engine does it have? 2.4L SOHC, 2.4L DOHC or is it the 2.7L DOHC? Both 2.4l engines are interference engines and the 2.7L is chaun drive.

The usual questions apply, do you have normal compression on all 4 cylinders, spark to the plugs, and fuel to the injectors ?
You should be able to find a used shop manual on Ebay or Amazon.

I cant get off the timing belt cover on a daewoo leganza dohc 2000 do i have to take the pully off. the metal peace behind the motor mount is preventing from coming off

thats correct the engine mount bracket needs to come off also if you need to remove rear timming belt cover to replace say the water pump or do some other repair, 3 torque head bolts are very tight and loctited in usually use correct torque socket and breaker bar to crack, its a bit of a tight squease also.

I just bought a 2000 model Daewoo Leganza (2.2l dohc engine) I was servicing the engine and decided to check the spark plugs, only to find I could not see them as they were immersed in engine oil. Car...

When the gasket goes bad, the engine will leak oil like crazy, which is what mine is doing at the moment.

As far as I know, it's really easy to replace the head gasket, which is something I'm in dire need of myself. You just unscrew the bolts, take the top part off, replace the gasket, and screw it back together.

I have a service manual, if you'd like to e-mail me..I can forward it to you.
