The driver seat has an electro-mechanical backrest adjuster. The backrest adjustment switch is located on the side of the seat cushion side shield and is part of the seat control switch. The recliner motor is mounted to the backrest frame. Power recliners and motors are only serviceable by installing a new backrest frame assembly.

Rotate the hub to a point that the stud will come out. Beat it out with a big hammer. You have to use a nut to pull the other one back in. If you don't have an impact gun, you'll need a breaker bar and some one holding the brake, so the rotor doesn't move.
It sounds like the inside of the recliner knob is stripped out. If
you go to your local GM dealership and give them your VIN number they

Use a flat-bladed tool to remove the plastic center cap from the center of the recliner handle.
can you hear motor running under seat when you press control switch,if not check for power at switch with a test lamp.If power at switch check for power at motor,if it has power, motor probably bad or jammed for some reason.You might need to take out seat to get to recliner motor.
