My 2006 fod Fusion check engine light along with the symbol of a tool (wrench?) popped on this morning. The tool symbol went back off but the engine symbol is still on.

Where is the plunger located and what are the correct parameters? I think I have the same problem but I cannot get the codes with my pre-CAN OBD-II scanner.

Fuel and Air Metering and Auxiliary Emission Controls

P2104 Throttle Actuator Control System - Forced Idle
P2112 Throttle Actuator Control System - Stuck Closed
If it's not the pedal, it has to be throttle body, senor or harness related.

Check your throttle position sensor connector and wiring harness for solid connections and/or damage. These codes are telling you the control loop is open and the ECU has no idea where the throttle blades are. So to be safe but still allow some movement your ECU is running the throttle body in an "open loop" mode which to be safe and prevent engine runaway limits throttle blade movement to some miniscule angle. Try to find a throttle position sensor in a bone yard or borrow one from another S197GT. It's a 5 minute test and you will know in a second if it works or not.

From what I had read and can recall from the Ford factory shop manuals for the S197GT, the drive by wire system is directly controled by the ECU which determines throttle blade position based on what it reads from a position sensor in the throttle pedal assembly. The ECU sends a control signal to the throttle body motor and the position of the throttle blades is read in degrees by the TPS and returned to the ECU which then comands any corrections or new blade position signals which are then read by the TPS and back through our loop over and over. There are no other active componets in the drive by wire system because all other engine and environmental sensors are in essence feed to the ECU which determines what throttle position to command based on the data it has and the ECU's programing. Everything else is just a connector or a piece of wire.

Without a multimeter you can attempt a quick-fix by taking an allen wrench and adjusting the plunger that stops the throttle plate. Turn it about 1 full turn, try to start it, and it revvv up a little (may go into into limp mode). 1 more full turn, cycle the ignition key 4 or 5 times to reset it, and ?vroom?. You still need a multimeter to make sure your'e in the correct parameters. This does make sense though. The computer re-learns where the TB plate is every time you start the car. The TPS is just a variable resistor. If the Throttle plate starts in the worng position, the TPS will read the wrong voltage.

Hope this points you in the right direction.

SOURCE: Check engine light on

the last two codes you rote have somthing to do with the electronic throttle control. the gas control is no longer controlled by a gas cable but is now all controlled electrical. so this is not a self fixer. must be checked by dealer or someone that knows what thay are doing.

P2104 + p2112 car starts but runs rough an wont let me rev at all ends up dying out after a minute 2006 ford fusion

P2104--Throttle Actuator Control System-forced idle

P2112--Throttle Actuator Control System-stuck closed

That could be anything from-----simply spraying the throttle
plate with CRC Throttle Body Cleaner,to Coil misfires ,coming
back on your TPS Sensor and setting your codes,to a bad
APP Sensor (accelerator pedal position sensor) to worse
case,a bad TACM (throttle actuator control motor)

The TACM you never want, because it requires a complete
new throttle body from Ford --for the tune of over $600 just for the
part. That forces you to install yourself ,which is easy.

Spray the throttle plate and let me know if you have other
codes for misfires.

I hope you do not, still have 4 or 5 year old spark plugs
still in that motor. Get them out of there

Clean the MAF Sensor---CRC MAF Sensor Cleaner

Start doing this work yourself. You can not afford a thousand
dollars per visit at a dealer. I as others will help you out.

The following diagnostic codes P2104, P2111, and P2112 the engine failure mode appears car wont move turn it off and on again and its fine with just the check engine light Happens several timesaday now

all the codes point to throttle body. clean throttle body, especially around throttle plate. check for loose wires, if problems persist. replace throttle body. p2104 is tac system forced idle, p2111 is tac system stuck open, p2112 is tac system stuck closed. clean throttle body good, and see if this fixes it. then go from there. have a good day !!

P2104 P2112 P2111 My 2005 Expedition continues to cut off and the engine light comes on. After a few miles the light goes off. Then the problem starts all over again.

The p2104 code was set because the PCM had to set the idle speed, the p2112 was set to indicate that your throttle body was stuck closed. You can try to remove the throttle body and clean it, check to ensure that it opens smoothly, check the TPS connector to ensure that it is plugged in correctly, reset the light and if the problem returns, you will probably have to install a new throttle body assembly. Hope this helps, let me know
