I would say most of the oil pressure sending units are right in the same area as the oil filter.

Put a gage in the sending unit hole and see if the oil pump is weak, that is the best way to tell if the engine pump is ok.

98 chevy 1500 starts and then shuts right off have replaced fuel pump and filter ,crank sensor, cam sensor ,oil sen. coil, ign.mod and PCM

On some chevys the oil pressure sending unit closes the circuit to continue the fuel pump to run after start. In the event of a wreck ,the car stops running thus no oil pressure thus turns off power to the fuel pump .A safety to help prevent fires. When you first start the car, the computer turns on the fuel pump for about 20 seconds just enough time to start and allow the oil pressure sending unit to close the circuit to allow it to continue running. when the car car has NO oil pressure or the sending unit fails ,it will start then shut down..as many times as you try to start. replace the oil pressure sending unit and secure a good conection. Where is my oil presser sensor located on a 1999 chevrolet 1500 5.3l v8 vortec?

Look near the oil filter, there are wires connected somewhere around there, should be 2 or 3 wires, I believe. That's the oil pressure sending unit.

The oil sending unit is located on the engine block behind the drivers cylinder head area. You have to climb up on the motor to see it cause it is hard to see behind the wiring harness. You may also want to purchase a new sending unit because it is very long and you might need to buy the sending unit socket to replace it.Hope this helps.Good luck.

Hi oil pressure

You have a bad oil pressure sending unit, or bad lead connection to the sensor.
Try to have the engine scaned like at Auto Zone and they can confim if it is the sending unit and they can give you the how to instruction's to replacing it.
Good luck and hope this helps. Ps part not that expensive

My 2005 Chevy 1500HD when cold there is no oil pressure accoring to the gauge. But after a few minutes of running and then a restart of the engine the oil pressure is bake to normal.

most likely the problem is the oil pressure sending unit or the oil passage to the sending unit is partially plugged, that is unlikely, I would replace the sending unit 1st.
