I have taken my 2001 Aurora in because of an oil leak repeatedly. It was using 4 qts. of oil every 3,000 miles between oil changes. The mechanic at the local Chevrolet dealer kept saying it wasn't an oil leak but something else. I asked if that were the case, then why was my oil always below level and the computer telling me to Change Oil Now!. Well, after several frustrating visits to the dealer, I wasn't leaving until they found and corrected the problem! (You can imagine what my driveway looks like.) They cleanned everything and found that it was the "oil sending sensor" directly in the engine block. Be persistent if you ever have the same problem! They finally fixed it!
My sons 01 Aurora kept saying low oil, but there was no leak and we had the oil changed the day before. After looking in the owners manual, this car takes 7 1/2 quarts of oil when you change the oil and put in a new oil filter. The mechanic claimed he put 5 quarts in and checked it but he couldn't of. Over a week and hundreds of miles later the oil hasn't dropped at all!
