Where is the thermostat located in the 199 venture and how difficult to change is there anywhere I can find a diagram

The thermostat is loacted in the thermostat housing under the throttle body on the intake manifold.

Here is the official GM method. Hope it helps. Also be sure to completely bleed the system of air.

  • Remove the air intake tube from the throttle body to air cleaner box.
  • Drain the coolant till level is under the thermostat level.
  • Remove the crossover exhaust pipe and radiator hose from the housing.
  • Remove the top bolt and loosen the bottom enough to wiggle the housing out.
  • Remove the thermostat housing and thermostat.
  • Clean matting surface.
Installation
  • Install thermostat and housing
  • Add RTV sealer to bolt threads
  • Tighten bolts to 18 lb ft.
  • and install everything else in revers
  • Re fill coolant and work air out of cooling system
  • Start the engine and inspect for any coolant leaks
Do not add radiator stop leak to coolant system, The rubber gasket on the thermostat will eventual stop the leak when it warms up and re tighten the thermostat housing bolts after the engine cools down.

Good luck and keep me posted.

Where is thermostat on 2001 chevy venture van with v6 engine

under the intake plenum, which will have to be removed before you can access the thermostat.
I suggest having it done by a garage mechanic.

I am looking for the thermostat in my chevrolet venture 2001, and if possible i would like a drawing of it so i can locate it thank you

if you follow the upper radiator hose to the engine you will find a clamp on the end of it that you will want to take off and under that is the thermostat housing there are two bolts that hold the housing in place that you will have to take out to get to the thermostat and so you can put the new one in. its takes about 45 minutes.
