1992 Dakota heater problem??

My 1992 Dodge Dakota had a heater fan problem this past weekend. The fan just will not work. The AC clutch works, the vacuum chambers all work, all the fuses are good. The fan will not work at any speed. Any ideas? Where is the actual fan located and how hard is it to remove? Is there a fusible link attached to the fan? Is there a connection that could have come loose I should check before I start taking this thing apart? Thanks in advance. I have the same problem with my dakato sport 3.9  all fuses are fine so I replaced the resistor plug which is in the upper rigts side passenger side, blower still not working would my next step be to replace the blower itself? dave dhbytheocean@yahoo.com

The fan generally is located under the dash on the passenger side... while you are there you will notice a couple wires plugged into the side of the duct work near the fan... that's your resister block for the fan speeds... it's likely failed... remove the two or three screws holding it in... unplug the connecter and replace it.

Where is the heater resistor on a 2005 dodge dakota? Behind glove box?

should be just above the blower motor. You will need to remove the glove box door to gain access.

Can i bypass the ac compressor on my 1992 dodge dakota 5.2l with a shorter belt from one without ac

I have a 92 Dakota with a 5.2 (318) 4x4, automatic trans. You can simply remove the ac compressor and go with a belt a bit longer then what stock non AC calls for. The idler pulley is in a slightly different location from AC to no AC engines so just getting the non AC belt won't work. I used a 5070900 / 7PK2285 for mine and it worked fine. Just a touch tight getting on. Next time I'll probably go 1/2 inch longer so a 5070905. I'm a licensed tech with 20 years in the trade in Canada, 4 years of that with a Dodge dealer.

1992 dodge dakota heaterstopped working

More details are needed however it is most commonly, the fan motor. Be sure to check your coolant level as well. If the fan still works and your coolant level is good, then you may want to check the heater control valve, located on the hoses to your heater core. Good luck, and I hope this helps.

Do you know how to carefully feel heater hoses to see if coolant getting to heater core is hot enough? Has thermostat been changed lately, and coolant system flushed?

1999 Dodge Dakota heater does not blow hot air.

It is most likely a closed or mostly closed thermostat, cheap fix and very common.
