Increase range for remote starter on 2007 grand prix

My 2007 grandprix remote start only seems to work at a distance of 10 feet or less, is there any way to increase the range?

Try changing the battery in the key fog. If that doesn't work you can try finding an aftermarket key fog with a greater range. It is probably just default range.

Remotestarter

Maybe the battery in remote is low or the remote itself may be limited in range. I installed an alarm system to an older truck.
It came with 2 remotes and one of them had a range of 10 feet
even with a new battery.

08 chevy impala remote start fob range

any further than 20 feet and you have the car started and running is an open invitation for people to steal your car before you get to it
however you can spend time on the net looking for a site that sells more powerful remotes

My remote start and keyless entry remote only works up to 5 feet away how do i extend the distance. i bought new remotes and had them programmed but still no distance

On my cars this has always been a remote battery replacement issue, weak battery equals weak signal causes short range. However you say you bought new remotes and they must have had new batteries in them. Did someone put some metal foil shielding around the receiver?I think this would have to be some type of bad receiver issue.

Remote start will work intermittently. have tried from 10 feet to 50 feet with same results. won't start. went to dealer they stated its because the range is not too high for the factory installed system....

Have you changed the battery in the remote?

Do so, then re-introduce the remote to the remote start system following the manufacturer's instructions, and the problem should be solved.

Remote start and door locks will only work from 10 feet or less

i had the same problem... go through the menu until you see reprogram remote. hit the check mark button and hold the lock and unlock button until the horn honks. key has to be on car not running though. You will eventually have to do it again but for some reason it will work for a while.

My battery light came on while driving. In the manual it is short and sweet...says could be charging device problem. Battery is less that six months old. What is the range of possible problems

The most likely problem is your alternator, but you can check with a volt meter to ensure that is your problem. Start your truck (use a battery charger or jump to start it if you need to) and put your meter on the battery post's. If your reading 13volts or so your alternator is working and maintaing voltage, however if your reading starts dropping to 10 or less(may take a few moments to drop) then it's probably your alternator. You can also check your battery's voltage before starting your vechile, if the voltage increases after you start the vechile then it seem to be charging.

Here's a start for you, hope this helps
