Question about 1994 Chevrolet Lumina APV

1 Answer

Front wipers worked sporadically, then died altogether.

The problem started with wipers not coming on when first turned on,but would work if I pulled up on one of them. Then they just quit working altogether. Is there an easy fix for this?
At about the same time, something started draining the battery as it sat overnight. Could these problems be related to each other?
Thanks for any help.

Hi! Yes the problem is related. The wiper motor is shorting out, which is causing it to work periodically and is also causing a drain on the battery.

How do i remove the front wiper blades on a 1987 gmc jimmy so that i can remove the wiper motor

If you're talking about the wiper ARM pull the wiper away from the windshield and at the base of the arm you should see a little clip.
Get a little screwdriver or needle nose pliers and pull the clip away from the base. It will not come all the way off, when it is pulled away just jiggle the arm at the base while pulling up. It might take some jiggling but it will come off.

The wipers on my 2005 impala started not going into neutral position. I changed the motor as my mechanic insisted. Now they only worked on high setting. Then this morning as i pulled into workthey stopped...

the cause for the wipers not parking is the park tab on the wiper motor bracket is bent, replace the wiper motor bracket. as for the wipers not working at all, could be a faulty part. fit your old motor back onto the new bracket and test.

The wipers will not work in the daylight....when he starts the truck in the daylight the wipers will not come night when he is leaving work the wipers will work.....checked the fuses and replaced...

So what youre saying is the wipers work when the headlights are on
but the wipers dont work when the headlights are off?

I would suspect the turn signal switch is bad. I believe the switch on your S-10 controls
the wipers as well as switching from high beams to low beams. Since that switch is related
to the control of both headlights and wipers.

Could also be the headlight switch. The wiring harness from the turn signal switch plugs
into the headlights switch. I would replace the headlight switch first since you can get one
for around $25. Turn signal switch costs $150-$200. Maybe a little more or less for your vehicle.

Hi i have a mk4 golf, my front wipers were slow but now have stopped altogether, any ideas what problem could be?

If they slowly died it is most likely the wiper motor. Over time the brushes in the motor will wear down and the motor will need replacement.

1988 nissan civilian. Intermittant wipers dont work. Wipers dont return to park position when turned off.

Hi, sounds like your wiper switch has died, it's what I'd look at first, maybe talk to a wrecker & see if you can buy one, if it fixes the problem, good, if not take it back and get a wiper motor, though I don't think it'll be the motor as it should just stop altogether, hope this helps :)

1996 chevy truck 1500. my windshield wipers work

Check for a loose fuse or loose wiring to the wiper. Also check for tight ground connection at the motor. The 'park' switch which completes each cycle may be intermittent. It might be a worn switch at the steering wheel.
