Question about 1993 Chevrolet Cavalier

Shifting Problems on 93 cavalier

93 Cavalier with the 2.2 automatic just installed motor back into car after doing a rebuild to it and now when i shift gears its messed up i shift to neutral then back to reverse for it to go to reerse and i have no drive gear all i have is 2nd and low im sure its a cable or linkage screwy some where so somebody help please thanks.

    I found the problem a couple of days ago and failed to post it on here there is a bracket on the back of the tranny on the bottom that a tranny bolt goes thru to the block and the bracket was bent i straightened it and it fixed it all thanks.

Look at your trany and right below your air filter box is an 4 pin plug. unplug it and then see if the problem still there. I had the same problem with my 93 cav. and I posted today (2/8) and micheal helped me and it worked

Im not sure of the correct firing order for a 93 chevy cavalier 2.2 litre and how are the spark plugs numbered from left to right 1-2-3-4 and how are the distributor posts numbered from top to bottom...

For the 1993 Chevy Cavalier 2.2L:

Firing Order:


Ignition Connections:

98 chevy cavalier with shifting problems

check the transmission solonoid..

you will need to get a diagnostic done to find out if thats the problem.. most likely its that,, or the transmission belt that needs changing.. in eighter case you will need someone with diagnostic machine to scan the cars computer for that!!

yes you should remove the radiator. also it is easier to remove the transmission with the motor then switch the motor.

Hard shifting when braking automatic transmission

Sounds as though your motor mounts are bad allowing the engine to shift.

93 Cavalier runs real rough

sounds like you left something out. check to see if you plugged in all the sensors and plugs, then check for any vacuum lines that were not replaced or may have been broken
