I need a new ignition key for my 1998 Chevy Lumina,

My key was bent and a friend tried to straighten it out with a hammer. NOW my key is flattened out and the groves of the key are gone, not to mention all the knicks in it. How can I obtain a new key? It was the only key I had which is why I attempted to trust him to straighten it out!

Never trust a friend your car, unless is a mechanic, now you have to replace the ignition and the door key, or better idea call a Locksmith they make a copy for you(be honest and tell the true they make a copy it work on both ignition and the door).

SOURCE: chevy lumina, lost keys, broke ignition, need to fix the wires

Solder and shrink tubing work fine for that. That is for the pk2 theft module that tells the car that you are using the correct key with the chip in it.

Need to know how to straighten slightly bent valves 1999 rodeo

You will be sorry to hear that there is no way to straighten bent valves. They need to be replaced with new ones, and refit to the head. This situation makes me worry about the crank bearing process: was the CAUSE of the bearing failure resolved? Was the crank repaired and turned? Was the block measured and issues resolved? and Finally was the bearing clearance measured with plasti-gauge?

I have a 98 dodge caravan and when i put the key

You may have to get a new key cut if the tumblers in the ignition lock are not being lined up to unlock the ignition. If the key's was bent in the ignition lock, the ignition lock may be bad and need to be replaced with a new ignition key. Try replacing the ignition key's first, but if you have a spare key. Try that first and if the spare key's don't turn the ignition lock, then you may have to replace the ignition lock. Good luck and keep me posted. oh and try moving the steering wheel left to right as you try to turn the ignition lock.

1998 Chevy Lumina wont start Ive changed the starter, timing chain and battery. Ingine not locked however when trying to start it makes a click sound like bad starter. Does anybody have any idea on what...

Looks like ignition current is not being available to fire the fuel/air injected mixture from the plugs. Remove the cable tip which connects TO any plug. Hold the cable tip to any metal part of the engine block or any part of the body where the metal is exposed(not painted). Ask a friend to turn the ignition for starting the engine(vehicle). If the cable tip produces sparks, then the induction coil is OK, but since you have stated that clicking sound is heard which is actually the relay's which tries to get the induction coil to generate high current required for producing the spark to ignite the fuel & air mixture in each cylinder, thus starting the combustion required to turn the engine & subsequently power. So check the induction, belt tightness and finally the "Distributor"in the sequence as stated and you will be able to diagose which one of the above are malfunctioning............sodeep

96 chevy lumina fuel pump changed now won't start

After you put the new fuel filter back in, make sure your fuel pump is actually pumping, either by listening for it to start when you turn the key on or by cracking the fitting at the fuel rail (after disconnecting your ignition hot lead first) I assume that you have checked the fuse/relay... rick
