SOURCE: how to change a burned head light on a 2000 vw cabrio?

Changing headlights on VW Cabrio I just changed the headlights on my roommate's 2002 Cabrio, but I followed the instructions given for a 2001. What you have to do is: 1. Move the metal wire holding the black cover to the side and remove the black cover. 2. Remove the power cord from the bulb itself and push to the side. 3. You will see a pin holding the headlight in. Squeeze the pin (you want to squeeze closer to the top of the pin, which is the closed end; don't squeeze the open ends because all you will do is get irritated and hurt your fingers), then push it back and down. What this will do is move the pin away and then out from those little metal tabs that its going through. One side will pop out, then the other. When you get it out, the pin should be standing up, with the closed end pointing up. You can then remove the bulb and replace. Popping the pin back in is a heck of a lot easier than getting it out! I was able to remove the cover, but I got totally stumped on the pin. I hope this helps you out, it may be a little confusing but its kind of difficult to describe. Maybe this will at least point you in the right direction!

SOURCE: 1999 Lumina 6-cylinder: which antifreeze can/must I use?

If your car is supposed to take Dex-Cool, it should say somewhere in the front of the car under the hood, usually near the radiator or on it.

IF it does take Dex-Cool, do not use anything but that in your cooling system.
Mixing any other antifreeze with Dex-Cool causes them to react with each other and corrode your radiator and hoses with a rust-like material.

SOURCE: 2001 vw cabrio

You have a leak in the radiator and it's not holding coolant. The coolant is evaporating through this leak and is causing the car to overheat. It doesn't matter how much you fill the radiator it will not hold any coolant/water until the radiator is repaired. Good Luck!!!

A 50/50 mix of Ethylene Glycol and distilled water is what you'd want. Brands like Prestone and Zerex are available premixed in that 50/50 ratio and available at any good auto parts store or Walmart. Prestone Extended Life Prediluted Antifreeze Coolant

What type of engine coolant does a 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan?

provided that all the old coolant is completly flushed out any good 50-50 low no silacates antifreeze will work. The trational Green fluilds will all mix with each other b ut not the other colors, Some combinations will gel or silt up and then insulate or clog up the compleate cooling system. All antifreezes are marked to tell you what manufacyures minium spechs they will pass. The thing to remember is all the old fluild ( no matter what kind it is) Needs to be completely flushed out with clear water. and if your mixing the new coolant yourself it's best to use distilled water as many of the additives to drinking water aren't nessaryly a good coolant. Of course your dealer will sell you the Chysler Anti freeze for your car but you don't have to and the ones that are marked 50/50 are ready to go you just pour them in.

What type of antifreeze does it use

Prestone and a few other companies make an All-Makes product that is safe for mixing with all other coolants.

The ``special coolant`` that it says must be used is an Extended, or Long life, coolant (Note: Not Dex-Cool). The Prestone product name above would work perfectly, and if you want to save a little cash, buy it concentrated and just mix 50/50 with water.

We replace it with:
ANY COLOR ANTIFREEZE
ALL MAKES ALL MODELS
of cars and light trucks
add to ANY color antifreeze
PRESTONE.

It's up to you. Ask before, but if you decide to change the type of coolant then:
If your intention is to add coolant only, then you need:
PRESTONE 50/50
PREDILUTED ANTIFREEZE/COOLANT

If your intention is to flush the RADIATOR (Cooling System), then you need:
Mix with
ANY COLOR ANTIFREEZE
ALL MAKES ALL MODELS
of cars and light trucks
add to ANY color antifrezze
PRESTONE
EXTENDED LIFE up to 150000/mile 5 year protection.
On the back you have to read directions:
Step 1 Drain. Step 2 Flush. Step 3 Fill.
Recommended to ad 30% volume distilled water to 70% volume Antifreeze. If you flush the system and rinse with water you must add only 30% water to the antifreeze. There is more water trapped inside the engine compartment, because the thermostat is closed. Make sure to have a coolant density tester. When you finish one of 5 balls must sink, that indicates that you reached 50/50 strength. That means 50% Prestone and 50% Water, which will provide to your car a -34F degree FREEZE-UP Protection , and +265F degree BOILOVER protection. Make sure to open bleeding valve to discharge air pockets from the cooling system. Add coolant. The next day, while engine is cold open the radiator cap, and test the strength of coolant. If it is not quite right, then siphon coolant from the radiator and add antifreeze, or distilled water as necessary.
Let the car to cool down overnight and start engine. The cooling system might be cold. Untwist the coolant bleeding nipple. If there will be a jet or stream of coolant, that means the water pump is working and is O.K. After replace the thermostat. If still your car overheats then it might be a bad cylinder head gasket.

In GM cars we replace Dex Cool with Prestone green coolant.

What type of antifreeze do i use in my 2000 VW new beetle

Volkswagon sells their own antifreeze for use in the New Beetles. It's an extended life antifreeze, but may be slightly modified from the commonly available extended life antifreeze available in your auto parts store. You can always ask the counter rep at Autozone or O'Riely's if they would recdommend the standard extended life antifreeze.
