You will need to locate IP5 pin 16 on the General Electronic Control Module that sits RH side behind your instrument panel (UK Car) . IP5 is the large brown 23 way connector that goes into the ECM module. Take this pin to ground then your boot will pop open.
I had mine done in local repair shop in the UK using Jag parts came in well under $600 pads only (not rotors). At your price i'd do it myself. I have put the details for 2003 X Type up on my website http://www.blujag.co.uk/frontpad.php its rough and ready but hope it helps. Jag recomend use of special service tools 206-080 caliper piston retractor and 303-588 damper remover ,
I have a 55 plate 2.5 S Type. I bought it from a local Jag dealer, i had a few small problems but they sorted them out straight away. As they are not selling cars you will be able to get a good deal i would only use a Jag dealer ask for 1 or 2 years free servicing i got it. Dont buy a high milage vehicle it will cost you more in the long run. I love my car PS Get the highest spec you can ie SE plus.Hoped this helped.
