Question about 1995 Dodge Intrepid

1 Answer

Fuel pump my car does the same thing, and now it wont start. is the problem the fuel pump? if so is there more than 1 pump. Ok I have a 95 Dodge Intrepid 3.5 Engine. The problem is that the car will start and run for maybe 30 - 40 minutes after this amount of time the car begins to **** going down the road like it is losing power. Also when this occurs the headlights and interior lights will flicker like power is being lost. The car will soon stall and not start until the next day. Alternator has been checked battery has been checked battery cables has been checked and all turned out good. We even put a new serpentine belt on. New fuel pump as well. What could be the problem?

Tell you where i would start first it sounds as though you have more then one problem ak first check your map senser, fuel filter & also look around the wiring harness focos on any area where there is movement it really sounds as though you have an electrical problem also check the harness where it goes through the fire wall (shake the harness while watching your lights see if they flicker) if this doesnt help narrow it please contact me via E-MAIL and i will see if i can help you

My 99 Dodge Intrepid died at a stop sign and wont start now fuel pump kicks on cranks but wont startanyone got any ideas

First off to narrow things down would be to see if any codes are set. Next check to see if you have all of compression, spark at the plugs and fuel at the downstream end of the intake or actuallt at or near the cyclinder(s)

2000 dodge intrepid wont stay running

Have fuel pressure tested in both situations. I've seen fuel pumps quit once they get heated up, then when they cool, pump again. Perhaps try WD40 sprayed in to throttle body inlet when no start, and that will tell you if it's a fuel delivery problem. Just remove air cleaner intake hose at front of throttle body, and open throttle and spray for a second or 2 then try to start. If it fires up and runs for a second or 2, then it's a lack of fuel issue.

95 Dodge intrepid wants to turn over but wont. power to car is fine.

There is a number of things that this could be, bad rotor in the distributor, loose wire in distributor, coil is going bad, timing is off, coil wire is working right, out of gas, bad fuel pump. all i can say is have fun. start with the cheapest and easiest to fix and go from there.

My 96 Dodge Intrepid will not start. When it does it will only run for a minute or two and then die. I have changed the ignition coil and it is still doing the same thing.

A failing fuel pump will do this.
Check the fuel level.
A weak pump will not work well below 1/3 tank of fuel.
==== Clean air filter will help rule out air restriction problem.

I have a 1995 intrepid it doesn´t turns on and we change change the computer what could it be?

If the starter is good and you have fuel at the injector and spark at the plugs at the proper time it should start.

The computer is only there to make everything run good and could be bad but the engine would still run.... badly but still run.

3 things to look for

1--- fuel

2--- spark to the plug

3--- make sure timming is ok.

fuel pump more than likely, take it to a shop to be sure, or if you are handy check your fuel pressure with a fuel pressure gauge.

I bet if you let the car cool off after a few hours it will start up again. You could also try banging on the fuel tank with a block of wood. If that makes the car start you have a faulty fuel pump.

There are other causes it could be, but a fuel pump is most likely your culprit.

I could go into details and explain why fuel pumps fail this way... but I'm too lazy to type now..
