1992 Corvette cranks over but will not start.

Replaced fuel filter and fuel pump and have good fuel. Checked for spark in the plugs and have that. Fuel injector fuses are good. Still cranks over but will not start. Seems to try to start but stops.

Your Optipark distributor is basically.... f*ced.
I have a 92, I have had the same problem. I also had spark, it seems like its all good but WILL NOT EVER TURN OVER. I did a full tune up and still had the same issue and it ran fine before.
Once it gets a lil wet inside its fuct. Newer versions of this are vented.
Replace it with a MSD one and all the LT1 opti-distributor problems are gone allat once.
I did a **** load of research onthis problem and it is a KNOWN issue with this year.
Hence, why they changed the design in 94, and even i think 93.
I forget.

Any questions hit me up at briand354@hotmail.com

good luck.

I replaced the fuel pump in my 1992 Ford Tempo and it still won't start it cranks over but won't start any ideas ?

Are you getting fuel pressure from the pump to the fuel rail? You need to do a fuel pressure test to determine if there is actually a fuel supply to the fuel rail. Is the vehicle getting spark? Have you removed a plug wire and grounded it out while cranking the engine over to test for spark? How did you come to the conclusion the fuel pump was bad? Was the fuel filter changed as well?

Cranks but won't start fuel pump not coming on

put a small amount of fuel in the intake near the throttle plate then crank and see if it fires, if it does then it's a fuel problem, if it does not fire then pull a plug wire and put a philips head screw driver into the plug wire hold it 1/4 inch away from a good ground then have someone crank it over, you should see spark and it should be blue, if not then you have a ignition problem a bad coil or cam sensor but need to know what you found out on the two tests I told you first to give you a direction to go.

Disconnect the + wire Coils Take #1 Spark Plug Out Get a helper Use Compression Guage if not Available, Just put your finger over the Spark Plug Hole, have help BUMP the Starter over till You can Feel The Compression at your finger you need #1 at TOP DEAD CENTER on its Compression STROKE Fine tune it by using a STRAW in the Plug Hole to feel the PISTON Move UP To VERY TOP Dead center----------------------------------This is Tricky but don't Loose these Instructions------- If you have the OPTI_SPARK Ignition System My Books show all about it but Nothing on the Timing "MARK" as this is the step I Stoped at Above.. Coil Pack Ignition Will Have a Timing MARK On the Lower Harmonic Balancer. Point Being if Mark is NOT on the Degree Indicator It has JUMPED TIMING<< Surly on a Coil Pack Ignition System BUT
-------- The Opti Spark system if there is NO Timing Mark to Go by I Would Suggest Breaking Down and Letting A DEALER Handle it Unless You Can RULE that it HAS JUMPED TIME------------------------------------------------------------------------I Truly Hope I've shed some Light on Your Delima and this Leads you to a Smooth running Chevy.
