Question about 2005 Nissan Altima
I bought the car in febrry,07- had a xm sattlelight radio hooked up in march,07. I never realized until after the radio had been hooked up (basically when summer began to come, go warmer out) that the gages on the dash would shut down "gas,rpm,speed, and coolant gages all would freeze or shut down". It doesn't effect the driving or any thing else, and after about 10/15 minutes or the car sits it will come back on with out any problem except (the tactohmeter will read the same number of miles driven as it did when the gages froze) basically the tactohmeter will not keep track of any new miles while these gages are shut down. I have taken the car back to the radio shop they insist that the radio doesnt have any thing to do with these gages shutting down, sd they have it well grounded and hooked into the fuse box, and ignition. They say that it wouldnt be causing the problems that I am having... Please tell me that you may have an answer???? Now almost two years after that problem started I had to have my rack and penion replaced and they had to remove the engine to do so.. and since I got the car back I have noticed that my dash lights had been blinking on/off repeatidly about three or four times (expecially when cold outside). Well story short I got pulled over for no brake lights "the bar across trunk was the only one working". I got both bulbs replaced they had both burnt out at the same time some how.. Got that fixed and had an officer write off the ticket one week ago to date.. "" Every light was working fine when he came out to check the ticket off""" Now I got told today that I dont have a brake light or tail light on the passenger side "back".. My reverse light still works in the center but there isnt any light (brake, or tail lamp) working on the right side in the back.. I expect for more lights to go out, but have no idea whats going on, Please say that you may have a suggestion, or answer??? my e-mail is email@example.com Do you think that the brake, tail light problem is due to the rack and penion being changed, and they had to lift the engine out???? "maybe they didnt do something right with the wires?? Now also if you have any suggestions with the gages freezing ( had to have the speed control sensor changed and the knock sensor last winter due to the check engine light came on.... ) Also at the begining of summer 08 I had to get a new altonator. The problem with your truck is not the fuel pump. Its the sending unit for the pump, which is on top of the fuel tank and feeds POWER to the fuel pump. Nissan has a campaign for it, because those units corrode internaly inside of the connector, that sends power to the fuel pump to power it up. Have the dealer run DCS check , to see if you have a open campaign for the sending unit. If you do, it will be free of charge and in some cases the whole fuel tank needs to be replaced also. However, that may not be your problem. I have seen ECM/computer getting flooded by the heater box. There is a drain tube, that drains your heater box, that tube gets clogged up by debriss/stuff and that's when water has no place to go and it leaks on top of you ECM/computer and fries it. Have you noticed any wetness on pass. side floor?? Right by the fire wall. Check it and make sure that its dry/carpet area at the top of the carpet behind the glove box. If its wet, that's not good. Let me know what you have found and will take it from there. Is the "Check engine light on" by chance?? Let me know.

look for a what is called a valet switch under the dash.(it is a pushbutton switch or a toggle switch.) Have somebody help you and turn the key all the way to where it wants to crank the engine and press the button switch or flip the toggle switch at the same time . within 5 seconds at least.your antitheft light will come on and your alarm will sound once. That should bypass the anti theft locking and reset the ECU .Then try to start the car. I don't know if it will work , but give it a try.

This is definitely a camshaft sensor malfunction, you can get away with not replacing it for awhile but eventually when it goes the car will stop starting, the sensor will need to be replaced hence why your car isn't starting but intermittently. Its easy to do and will take about 30 minutes to do, its just a pain to get to.

I would check your intake gasket. Get your self ome carb cleaner in a spray form/can and perfrom this test. Run the car and spray the carb cleaner on your intake gasket which is right by your injectors. So pretty nuch spray it at the injector rail and listen fot change in idle, If the idle changes, the intake gasket is torn and you are running lean, because of a vaccum leak. Common problem on your model car. Perform test and let me know what you find.
