Question about 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier

1 Answer

Bogging down when under medium throttle

My 2001 cavalier will bog down when i throttle more than light, before stepping right into it it will bog down and sometimes under full throttle (slamming) it will do the same, i have replaced the fuel filter under the back of the car mounted on the chassis, but pertinent to my other question, could there be another fuel filter located on top of my engine by the fuel injectors. Or do you have any other possible suggestions, i have changed the plugs and air cleaner too and still same problem! Thanks!

Hi,
Have you had the Catalytic converter checked? it could be due for replacement as they break down and cause tremendous back pressure.
Hope this Fixya's problem!

It's a faulty sensor could be a map sensor depending on the year of your vehicle or detent cable or throttle body regulator. If I new the year of your car I could help you more.

Push down on gas pedal bogging then goes

It could possibly be that there is a wore spot on your throttle position sensor (TPS). It basically is connected to the cable running to the gas pedal and tells the computer how much you're pushing down on the pedal.

If you find that it's bogging down more and more often (like when you need more power climbing hills and never really gets going), it could be that your catalytic converter is clogged, but this will eventually throw some check engine lights.

86 4.3 litre V6 chevy el camino bogging down, stalling out

most likely a weak fuel pump or a clogged filter. Check fuel pressure with a gauge or as its bogging down spray brake cleaner in the Throttle Body. If this allows it to increase RPM then its the pump or filter.
