High oil pressure in a toyota 100 series 1999 model 1HZ engine

Have you recently purchased the vehicle. A rebuilt agent with, racing seals & a racing oil pump, will run around 75 - 85 lbs pressure. If it just started happening on a vehicle you have had for a while, a defective guage. Or look for a plugged oil chamber, (near impossible without dis-assembly). Bad oil sending unit (part that sends the signal to the guage.

Normal oil pressure at operating temperature should be around 40 lbs, 30 at an idle. Either you have a bad oil pressure sending unit or you actually have low oil pressure that indicates a serious engine problem.

The oil pressure guage is not registering. There is oil in the car and the other guages work normally

check the oild sending unit and make sure it hasent been unplugged or is going bad it is eather on the backside of the motor towards the firewall in the upper center or could be by the oil filter towards the bottom side of motor. it should have 2 or 3 wires running to it connected by a plastic looking connectionon what looks like an 11/8inch nutt or plugg, make sure its plugged in good, it should be dry of oil or water if there is oil on it its gone bad you need to replace. before you start blowing smoke all over the road along with a fair amount of oil. if that isnt whats wrong check owners manual or find one online too see where fusebox is located and witch fuse supplys power to pressure guage.. i hope this helps

Should the oil pressure gauge fluctuate with speed

The oil pressure guage will fluctuate with engine RPM. At idle it should be approximately 20 lbs./, at high revs about 50-60 lbs./ Hope this helps any concerns you may have. Good luck!

1989 F150 351 oil pressure guage starting dropping to 0 suddenly and engine light comes one. When I rev the engine it goes back to normal but a soon as the rpms drop the needle goes all the way to the left...

Usually your oil light doesnt come on unless you have less than 10 lbs of oil pressure. You either have a bad oil pressure sending unit, or your engines oil pump is bad. The only way to verify your engines oil pressure is to buy a direct reading pressure guage and install it on your truck, or have a mechanic check your engine oil pressure. Eitherway, you need to do something soon, because the long term effects of running with low oil pressure will ruin your truck engine.
