2003 ford escape fuel pump

I found out in December that I needed a new fuel pump. I went to have it changed today because it is cutting off and was told that it is not in stock (nationwide) and wouldn't be in stock until March. I just wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this.

No gas getting to filter,,, car has been running fine

Change the fuel pump or make sure the fuel safety cut off switch didn't trip or look for a blown fuse. The fuel cut off is usually found in the trunk.

Most likely the fuel pump is not running because the crash sensor, aka the fuel pump cutoff switch, has tripped. They usually have a reset button on them and are located by the in line fuel pump.

Flipped my 2003 escape onto its passenger side got it back on its wheels drove it away parked then put gas in it and then tired to start it and wont now whats goin on ???

hi.

you may have tripped the fuel pump safety switch. it cuts power to the fuel pump in an accident.

it is normally found behind a cover on the side of the passengers side footwell (possible drivers side on left hand drive). just press the button in to reset it.

if this does not work, you may have to take it to the dealers for them to reset any other safety devices that may have operated.

How and where do I locate the fuel gauge sensor unit on fuel tank of V6 Ford Escape.

The sending unit will be in the tank and is an integral part of the fuel pump assembly, You will have to take the tank out to change it.

Headlight went out in 2003 ford escape i have

you have to remove the whole headlight assembly, then pop off the front cover pull the old bulb out and put the new one in. reverse the process to re-install. there is a small plastic tab on the topfront of the headlight assembly, that is what you need to release to get the clear cover off and get inside.

Focus That stalls

you need a new fuel pump. There was a program to pay for this for 10 years I think for some 2000-01 Foucs. Here's what the letter from Ford says: December 2003 Program 03N01 "Attached is a letter announcing the details of a no-charge program Ford Motor Company will be conducting concerning your vehicle's fuel pump. We have found some 2000-01 Ford Focus vehicles may experience symptoms of engine hesitation, loss of power, surging and other similar symptoms ...... as a rsult of progressive contamination of the fuel pump filters." (in the fuel pump). You may reduce the liklihood of the symptoms occurring by kee[ing the tank at least half full. My recollection is the program was good for 10 years. Ask your local Ford Dealer if your car is eligible for this program.

Changing fuel filter

From what your describing this sounds like you have a bad fuel pump and should be easy enough to verify.Install a fuel pressure gage on the fuel rail. Cycle key on and check for a minimum of 50 PSI. Start engine and verify fuel pressure maintains at least 50 PSI during symptom.

If pressure drops, lower fuel tank to check for B+ on the Pink/Black (PK/BK) and good ground on the Black (BK) while fuel pump relay is energized. If OK, replace faulty fuel pump.
Fuel pressure should run between 50-65 PSI. Fuel pumps are a common failure item on this vehicle especialy during warmer weather.

lower the tank to get to your filter
