Question about 1999 Dodge Dakota
1999 dodge dakota/v-6 magnum. 1st i thought it was the battery/connections.had battery checked. all i get is a cliking sound when i turn the key on. also when i turn on the key all the lights go off then come back on in the truck. i try and start it and all i get is clicking noise from the starter. When the engine did start, the dome light inside had a light flutering to it. turned engine off and that is when all i got ws clicking sounds. Is there something i need to check. the wires to the starter is tight. Is there a relay switch to the starter or something in that matter.
From your excellent description you may want to look at the starter solenoid? they rarely go faulty but the sounds you are hearing are symptomatic of this.
Is the battery good? it may show 12volts but amps are what we need here.
I know this sounds saft but try a booster just to confirm?
If no luck please get back to me.

Car not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities.
It can be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then
it can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure
or no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty
ignition coil or injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned.
To confirm the problem, the basic troubleshooting is required.
