Where is the emergence shut off switch to reset fuel pump on 1996 chev cavalier 2.2

Hello,
To answer your question there is no inertia switch. So your only options are the fuel pump relay, the fuel pump itself or bad wiring. I would start by turning the key to on and see if the relay clicks. If it does then more than likely you have a bad fuel pump

2000 chevy cavalier wont turn over

firstly check if you have a pressure sensor in the fuel manifold . If you have then it controls power to the ECM to the pump relay to the pump and switches the pump off when fuel pressure in the manifold is reached . Also check for a fuel emergency shut off switch that you may have to reset

Car wont was running swerved from hitting dog hit embankment now car wont start

Check your fuel shut off switch. These car are made to where if you hitsomething hard enought it will kick the fuel pump shut off switch to keep it from catching fire. The switch should be in your trunk on the left wheel well.

Ive got a 1997 cavalier it will start but quickly dies out ive got fire to my plugs and fuel to the injectures ive just replaced the ignition switch is there somkind of a security

You need a new fuel pump relay. The engine fires up and runs off the oil pressure switch untill the oil pressure PSI is reached at normal operating conditions. When the oil pressure reaches its operating PSI the PCM or engines computer will shut off that circuit and turns on the fuel pump relay to run the fuel pump untill you shut the engine off

98 chevy cavalier cranks but wont start changed fuel pump, computer, crank shaft position sensor and the theft system light is staying on

try to start the car, than the anti theift would shut the car off. you wait ten min with the key on, until you see the anti theift flash or disapear. than turn key to off position and try to start it. this will reprogram the computer.. Good luck.

you can also try disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes

97 chevy cavalier z24 2.4L wont start

sounds like a fuel pump. check for the car losing fuel pressure and you probably needed to turn the key a few times on off on to build enough pressure to start it. it wouldn't hurt to check the fuel pressure regulator as well a good throttle body cleaning won't hurt as well.
But worst case scenerio would be a timing chain with too much slack. those motors are known for it.

Fuel pump shut switch location

Chevrolets are not equipt with a fuel shut off switch, only fords. U need to find out if there is power and ground at the fuel pump. Start be listening for a buzz noise from tank when key is cycled on and off. Wires do not run under car so probably not problem. Most likey just a bad fuel pump that was just "jarred" too hard from impact. By year of car, 1996, should be due if not yet done
