Question about 2000 Dodge Caravan

Dodge caaravan not heating up

I've read through a number of problems in the forum, but my problem seems to be different compared to all of them. When the car is at operating temp, the heater still doesn't blow hot air, i've checked and replaced the thermostat, but that doesn't seem to fix the problem. However sometimes when i move the temperature (hot to cold) switch (not blower switch) back and forth it heats up and blows hot air, but after a few minutes it cools down again and then after moving the switch again it heats up again, and cycles through accordingly. Anyone konw hwo to fix this?
Thanks in advance , you replied by saying to recalibrate it, and i couldn't find a way to "reply" because i have questions to reply and that is

um, for the recalibration, my rear wiper motor doesn't work or so i was told, can the recalibration still work? and also if it doesn't work, where do i read the codes from? if this helps at all, this is a 3.0L, 6cyl engine.

Dodge grand Caravan 1995 has been acting up with erratic heating since last month.

Could possibly need a new thermostat, the thermostat opens and closes depending on the heat of the coolant. maybe also check your heating core. as well as the quality of you coolant.

Here's a helpful link for your vehicle, 2.5L engine:

For the larger engines, try this link for info.
From what I read, it doesn't seem that the timing chain is a regular replacement item.

For your question, the forum where this link resides would be a great place to search around. You'd be surprised how many people have already had a similar question. The link to this forum is:

If this has helped, please give me the appropriate thumbs up! Thanks, and good luck!

Check the brakes. You may have a caliper dragging due to lack of preventative maintenance. If you never flushed the brake fluid every couple years, the caliper piston could be rusted and sticking.

What should the calibration test results be for a 95 Dodge Neon. I tested all 4 pistons but I am not sure how high or low they should. The numbers were all over the place.

for d i y a rule of thumb method if you suspect compessio/s ar low ? take the pressure reading of the highest and its cylinder then compare all other cyl/s readings if there is difference of around 15 psi on any cylinder/s (lower readings) then it could be valves on the cylinder head (exhaust valves) considering age/milage of vehicle? either way cyl head has to come off annd recommend you change/all ex valves and reseat others ?

Heating problem

I suggest getting a Haynes repair guide for that model at your parts store. It will show you the major connections and how to get at them. You can compare what you see to what the book shows as the major components and then decide what to do.

if you are sure that your heater core is not restricted. then try to recalibrate the climate control panel. if your a/c system is not working then DO NOT ATTEMPT THE RECALIBRATION it will make your lights on climate control panel flash codes forever.
to reclaibrate the climate control panel just have the engine running. turn the mode to vent, the temp to cold, the blower on high, then press and hold the rear wiper wash and wiper buttons at the same time until the panel lights up then wait about 2 minutes for it to run completly when completed. turn off ignition and then restart the engine try to se if you have heat again. if it doesntwork post the codes it gives you after the calibration test.
