if mean you can feel the gear shift lever engage into position then you should check to see if the cable is moving the neutral switch on the transmission. if not then you may have a broken or out of adjusted shift cable. if the gear shift cable is moving the switch then the problem is in the transmission and will have to be looked into.
i have 2000 deawoo nubira which has the power light blinking and sometimes the hold light on the dash too . it has resulted in hard and noisy gear changing and shifting . i change the tcm but to no avail . help please
Start the engine and let run until it reaches operating temp...next, run the transmission shift lever through all gears one by one and then return back to park. With engine running, pull out the transmission dipstick and wipe off. Reinsert the dipstick fully and pull out once more. Check the fluid level.
The weld on the manual lever is known to break loose. First, with the wheels off the ground, with the lever in the park position, does the drive shaft lock in park? If yes or no sometimes, drop the trans pan. I bet the nut on the lever camd loose.
there real bad on the auto matic tranmistions going out on them alot of times it is the low gear pack that goes out. the low gear pack also has reverse in it so when the trans goes out it no longer shifts right. and it will not give any warning on doing such so u need a new transmision
I would start with your trans, 3rd gear is much higher the 1 and 2 and if it only jerks in 3 the problem is a tranny issue, possibly late shifting or bad shift solenoid for 3rd gear. Your ecu could also be casueing the late shifts.....hows your fluid level/age
Hi, just had this problem repaired. The lower arm bushings are bad...not the transmission. I ordered two sets from the nubira site (for the left and right sides of the car)...they are kind of like metal rings with rubber inside...this rubber dampens the shifting from the transmission. $250 - $300 job. Sure that's what it is...
