Question about 1998 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
Can you help me sir
same issue with 99 benz c280...changed the combo switch took off the airbag and put it back on...now the srs light is on...anyone know how to reset without going to the dealer?
It is my understanding that the SRS is a dealer only reset because it requires a code that is proprietory to MB dealers only. Now, a garage with a good scanner (loaded with applicable MB program) may be able to reset it for cheaper than a dealer. Nonetheless, I do not believe you can reset it on your own.
A side note, as long as the SRS light is on, your airbag and/or belt tensioners may not work if you're in a collision.

Most good Indies can do what dealer does, call them.
". that sure seems dumb that benz would make it a factory reset every time you take off the steering wheel.."
Are you kidding me? You want idiots taking their steering wheels on and off without inspection? Those lights are there for a reason. We already have wheels coming off on our highways from amateurs or chop mods, I'd hate to think I could buy a used Merc that Joe the plumber tinkered with.
