Check your fuses to be sure it is not as simple as that. They fuse locations may be listed in your owner's manual. If you don't have the manual. Here is a link to find one online.

For an '96 white striped wire goes on top. If you are thinking about doing this
yourself I say go for it, You have to remove the piece of trim on
the top of the door panel in corner near where you would look out to
Second, remove a piece of trim on the interior handle ((2) torx fasteners within that handle. Lastly, pop out the "buttons" that hold the door panel on. I have heard them called clips on other posts. Other posts state that it is hard not to bust a couple of them....I can tell you that is true. Going to have to buy a few tomorrow at the dealer. On these buttons I found that you can take a very narrow screwdriver and press in the middle of the button to release. I think they are one time use fasteners but this releases the clip. Once you have released the clip you can pull the panel off. After that it was one bolt to remove the entire mirror, a multi-pin connector and put it all back together. 20-25 minutes.
