Question about 1995 Dodge Intrepid

1 Answer

Car will not shift right

My car has over 230,000 miles on it. We had to replace the transmission. This transmission has only 99,000 miles on it. The car would shift perfectly until we put 1000 miles on it. Now, the car shifts when it wants too. When it is cold it will shift ok and then when it warms up we have to put the car in neutral and shut it off for a minute. When we turn it back on it shifts unless we have to go under 40 mph. Then it down shifts on its own and we have to repeat the process. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Is this possible to get more than 230,000 miles in a caravan 2005. And what should i have to do to be driavable

Most likely you'll have to replace the motor and have the transmission rebuilt. It is also recommended to go through the whole vehicle and do a complete inspection that includes brakes, steering and suspension parts, the cooling system; basically anything that has the possibility to wear or wear out. You might have replaced or repaired a number of these items already but it is always good to be a full inspection on a vehicle with this many miles.

My 2001 GMC Jimmy 4x4 Automatic with 84K miles. It winds when I put it in reverse and I think I only have 1st and 2nd gear. Additionally it revs high, like over 3000 rpm, delays and then eventually...

It winds up in 1st and then shifts right from 1st into 3rd. Then never shifts into 4th. Plus rev is gone. You broke the sun shell. The transmission will need to rebuilt or replaced.

Well i have a 99 couger and i had to replace the pcm so took it to ford dealer had the car re programed so it would start now when i put it in drive it takes off in high and want shift up or down and speed...

most likely you need to replace the speedometer sensor..it control the transmission shifter by sending the signal to the pcm and the pcm to transmission shift solenoid..that why it don't shift right

Transmission light on, will not shift into high gear 230,000 kms

The vehicle has a solenoid issue sticking or the valve body is hanging up.
I would have the vehicle checked out at a transmission shop.

I had the same problem, replacing you thermostat should do the trick, i spent 8.99 on a new thermostat and 99 cents on a seal. For some reason engine temperature affects the transmission shifting. Good luck

Toyota Camry Automatic Transmission Jerking Shift

Not likely to be the clutch pack as you dont mention slipping wich is the normal sign of overheated or worn clutch bands. Not sure with your vehicle but 2 methods that control the shift severity are engine vacuum or pump pressure inside the auto. so check balls are a possibility. They are spring loaded to open at a set pressure,or close.Could you check to see if its a vacuum controled and if so its a lot easier to fix as the vacuum control should be outside the trans.

99 GMC K 1500 Transmission burning fluid and comeing out blow-by

The fluid boiling over is caused by the slippage heating up the fluid, your clutch pack is worn out, you will need an overhaul.
