Question about 1999 Oldsmobile Cutlass

1 Answer

Window sticking The driver side window on my 1999 Olds Cutlass use to stick when going up and down. I had to grab it and help it through the sticking points. While going up/down it would stick without the buzzing sound like it was trying in the past, and would stay like that for awhile sometimes days. Then it would just start working again at any given time, so I bought another switch and that didn't work now it won't roll up/down at all. I planning on going to the junk yard and get another motor for it, would that be the solution or did the sticking finally blow the motor and need another part for why it was sticking? Thanks!

Hi! U need to check the guide railes for the free movement of the glass and now that it is no longer working it could be that the sticking causes the motor to burn.

1998 olds cutlass driver side window switches dont work except for the switch that controls the passenger side front door window that works but all others dont work, would that mean need a new switch or...

Do the individual door switches work their windows? If so, it would be the driver's side door switch, the master switch, that is bad.
The fact that one window works off the driver switch means that power for the windows is at least getting to the master switch, and that the ground for all power windows is good. If the other door switches work, it is just the master switch, not a wiring problem.

1999 olds intriuge driver side window fell down one day when i shut my door. my husband has a stick inside the door holding the window up.

  • Well this could be the window pop out of the little metal clamp that holds the window in place or the window 'regulator/motor/track completely went South.
  • You can remove the panel and have a look. It's one or the other.

1988 olds cutlass 2.8 v6 4sp trany seems to stick in overdrive. trany fluid looks and smells fine. also shifts fine going up.

Hello,
I have a Olds Cutless Ciera 1089 with the 2.8 MFI V6, and my car was stalling more and more coming to a stop. It would always start right up, but as soon as I put in back in drive many times would stall again. You can try to prove that it is the Lock up clutch converter solenoid which is inside of a side cover on the drivers side. I unplugged mine and the problem went away for good. Per a GM dealership shop tech, said It won't hurt anything for a while. He said it wasn't urgent to fix a sticking solenoid, for weeks or months, but should fix it sometime. You might lose some of the gas mileage from unplugging it, no lock up at upper speeds. Old school cars never even had these, and they were plenty problematic in GM cars, of getting stuck or staying sticky. Hope this helps.

Removal of rear door panel on a 1999 cadillac deville. window will roll down but not up. is ther a way to roll up the window manually? when the door panel is removed.

well, when this happens to me, I grab the glass with a pair of pliers with tape on the window top, to prevent damage, Push on the switch to go up. Sometimes motors stick in the upward direction when down too low.

Try grabbing the rubber tube that goes from the door to the fender on the drivers side while you are pushing down on the function that you want to do,when you hit the right commbo the window should come up.or you need a new drivers door switch, every other door runs through it.

Electic window on mazda mx5 sticks when going down(not up). Motors and cables are working. Window appears to move in guides and doesnt go down squarely making it stick. I have tried lubricating the guides...

Look really good, for another window guide that is missing,or you may need to adjust the guide track,or the window channel, that the window sets in,If the window is moving around in the window channel, then the adhevsive has let go of the window.
