Question about 2004 Mazda Tribute

Code 402 0n 2001 mazda tribute

Was getting a 401 code was told it was egr valve replaced it.still got code so was egr booster replaced it.code changed to 402.this site told me to check air filtewr good advice has been 50,000 miles did that same code 402.have sent emails but no advise.any help thanks

A code P0402 most likely means one or more things has happened. The DPFE (differential pressure) sensor is faulty and needs to be replaced, there is a blockage in the EGR (most likely carbon buildup) or the EGR valve may not be opening due to a lack of vaccuum.

2001 mazda tribute blowing holes in egr valve. When driving it starts out good then you gas on it it runs ruff then valve blows out it runs fine till I get home then dies.
This does not sound right at all. I have never heard of an EGR valve blowing holes! Buy a replacement like Ray says. If this happens again plan on replacing your exhaust system, all parts, because if it is clogged this is how car fires occur. Don't take the chance.

  1. Remove the EGR valve.
  1. Disconnect the vacuum line.
  2. Disconnect the EGR tube.
  3. Remove the EGR valve and discard the gasket.
NOTE: The EGR valve sealing surfaces are soft metals.

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  1. Carefully clean all sealing surfaces and install a new EGR valve gasket.

2001 Mazda Tribute intermittently stalls at idle. Already replaced the idle control module. Checked the fuel pump and filter. What is it?
Check your EGR valve, check your PCV valve, check your mass airflow sensor and throttle body sensor.

I have a 2001 Mazda Tribute V-6 and I cannot keep it running at idle. I have replaced the EGR Valve and a fuel filter. It seems to be idling too slow. Any suggestions?
Go to my profile and see my tips for help with this. All you need to do is pull the idle control valve, clean it and lube it. It takes about 5-10 minutes, and your car will start and run great!

2001 Toyota camry 401 code came up. replaced the
egr position sensor. check items before you replace them, it gets expensive just guessing.

CODE SHOWS EGR VALVE
Is the code 401? Because if it is then it's not your egr its the sensor switch for the egr. It's located back by the firewall it is a black 1 1/2" x 2 1/2" rectangular shaped ,plastic and has a clipped plug on it's long side and it has 2 rubber sleaves coming out of bottom which slide over 2 vacuum lines to the egr and if this sensor has any moisture in it what so ever then you have to replace it. This sensor makes the egr valve open and close. And the tribute are famous for these sensors failing. The Ford part # is 4u7z-9j460-aa. Hope you find your problem.
