    Yeah it's a GT+ tuner box...so you think I shouldn't use it? Cause I looked it up on their web site and they said it prolongs engine life and incease about 20% mpg and hp and torque....that's just what they said...I just wanted some extra power. What should I do???

    well...I do honestly think it does work...I do notice a little hp gain and I save a little more on gas. But how much do you think a hypertech programmer or superchips cost??

I want to install a jawdropper chip on my 94 camaro 3.4 liter and dont know where the ats sensor is located can someone help me with this

If you look in the air intake boot you should see a two wire sensor stuck in it. this is the iat. That being said i dont recommend the "chip" you are referring too all it does is make computer think it is cold outside all the time so it adds more fuel to engine this is were they claim the extra power. decreased mileage and decreased engine life.a programmer works much better.

    You can try it that is up to you it is basically a gimmick in my opinion.a superchip or hypertech programmer will recalibrate the computer while more money it actually works. I have seen these on cars before and take them off due to driving issues and cant tell a difference. try it you may be happy

    If you are happy with it then run it. when i say decreased engine life i mean minimal. a programmer is around 200-300 unless you can get a used one but remeber it has to be returned to stock on vehicle before it is unlocked to use on another car.

    this is all just my opinion on the iat add on i have scanned computers and figured out how they work it is just a resisitor that changes the temp.

    if you have a v8 car get vin number off of a highway patrol camaro and have someone flash computer with this vin it make a good bit of difference!!!kinda need to know someone at the dealer to do this

    YES if you change symetrical to assymetrical the baud rate skyrockets!!! ;)

Location of Intake Air Temperature Sensor:
The intake air temperature sensor, which is mounted on the mass air flow meter, monitors the intake air temperature. The intake air temperature sensor has a built-in thermistor with a resistance that varies according to the temperature of the intake air. When the intake air temperature becomes low, the resistance of the thermistor increases When the temperature becomes high, the resistance drops .

What does this mean?
The Intake Air Temperature Sensor measures the rise and fall of the air temperature inside the Intake Manifold. This provides critical data needed for the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) to control the Air Fuel Ratio, the Ignition Spark Timing and many components of the Emission Control Systems.
Code P0113 sets when the voltage signal to the PCM from the Intake Air Temperature Sensor Circuit stays above 4.5 volts while the Coolant Temperature Voltage readings are rising and falling within an appropriate range.
Symptoms
  • Check Engine Light will illuminate
  • In some cases, the engine may be hard starting and/or get poor fuel economy
  • Poor engine performance/hesitation on acceleration
Common Problems That Trigger the P0113 Code
  • Defective Intake Air Temperature Sensor
  • Dirty air filter
  • Defective Mass Air Flow Sensor
  • Faulty or corroded Intake Air Temperature Sensor wiring or connections
Common Misdiagnoses
  • Intake Air Temperature Sensor is replaced when the real cause is a dirty air filter
  • Intake Air Temperature Sensor is replaced when the real cause is a poor connection or chafed wiring
  • Intake Air Temperature Sensor is replaced when the real problem is in the Mass Air Flow Sensor
  • P0113 Diagnostic Theory for Shops and Technicians
  • When diagnosing a P0113 code, it is important to record the freeze frame information and then to duplicate the code setting conditions with a test drive while paying close attention to engine load, throttle position, RPM, and road speed on a data streaming scan tool. As you drive the vehicle, compare these values to the Intake Air Temperature Sensor PID or parameter ID. The Intake Air Temperature Sensor voltage values should rise and fall with changes in engine temperature. Compare the Intake Air Temperature or IAT readings to the Coolant Temperature Sensor readings, as they should move in tandem with each other. However, the Engine Coolant Temperature sensor will have a much higher temperature range.
    Check the IAT sensor connector with the key on and the engine off. There needs to be a steady 5 volt reference voltage and a very good ground. Find and use the proper engine performance wiring diagram to discern the proper color and position of these wires in the connector.
    It never hurts to do a key on-engine off voltage output test of the IAT sensor. Typically, I CAREFULLY use a heat gun to raise the temperature of the area around the sensor and study the change in values of the Intake Air Temperature. It's important to use the scan tool data stream as this will verify the IAT harness and connections.

Dont know how to change air intake sensor on 2000 hyundai sonota 6 cyl..... Think they might have gave us the wrong part????


THE INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR IS MOUNTED IN THE INTAKE AIR HOSE OF THE AIR CLEANER .THE INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR IS INTEGRATED INSIDE THE MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR.SHOULD BE NO PROBLEM REMOVE.DISCONNECT ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR,THEN REMOVE THE MOUNTING SCREWS HOLDING IT IN PLACE.THEN REMOVE IT.TAKE THE OLD INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR WITH YOU TO THE AUTO PARTS STORE SO THEY WILL MATCH UP AND GIVE YOU THE CORRECT SENSOR.WHEN YOU INSTALL NEW SENSOR,YOU NEED A CODE SCANNER TO ERASE CODE TO TURN OFF CHECK ENGINE LIGHT.

Where is the IAT sensor for a 99 5.9 diesel ?


The two-wire Intake Manifold Air Temperature (IAT) sensor is installed in the intake manifold with the sensor element extending into the air stream:
  1. This is a Negative Thermal Coefficient (NTC), meaning that as the manifold air temperature increases, the resistance (voltage) in the sensor decreases, and vice-versa.
  2. The IAT sensor provides an input voltage to the PCM, indicating the density of the air entering the intake manifold based on intake manifold air temperature. When the ignition is turned ON , a 5-volt power circuit is supplied to the sensor from the PCM. The sensor is grounded at the PCM through a low-noise, sensor-return circuit.
  3. The PCM uses this input to determine:
    Injector pulse-width (air: fuel ratio) Ignition timing (to prevent spark knock)

Where is the Intake Air Temperature Sensor or the (IAT)Sensor on a 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO 4.0 .??? I Have A Boss Performance chip that i would like to install....Thank's..


The air temperature is taken between the air filter and the throttle body. Look in the roof of your air cleaner box. (usually 2-pin plug) After the air cleaner, the tube that sends the air to the throttle body has the mass air flow sensor in it.(usually 4-pin plug)

INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR (IAT) is normally located at the engine air filter housing for old models but i think yours its incorporated with the mass air flow unit (assembly). Thats the sensor after the air filter

Intake Air Temperature sensor.

It has to be installed ->BEFORE the throttle body, to sense the density of the air entering the intake manifold, based upon intake manifold temperature.

It provides an input voltage to the PCM, (Powertrain Control Module)
It's a Negative Thermal Coefficient sensor, (NTC. It uses two wires)

Meaning, as intake manifold temperature Increases, resistance in the sensor increases.
(Less voltage)
As the temperature Decreases, resistance in the sensor Decreases. (More voltage)

The PCM then uses this input to calculate the following;
1.Injector-Pulse Width
2.Adjustment of spark timing.

Just thought you might want to know.

Wish I knew what size your engine is.
A. The IAT in the 3.7 Liter engine, is located in the Left side, {Drivers} of Intake Manifold Plenum. (BEFORE the throttle body)

See that plastic 'snorkel' tube, that comes from the air cleaner housing, and goes to an oval shaped aluminum housing? That oval shaped, {On the end}, housing is the Intake Manifold Plenum.

The 4.7 Liter engine has the IAT in the same place.
The 4.0 Liter has the IAT installed INSIDE, the Front of the Intake Manifold Plenum. (Before the throttle body)

The color of the two wires are Brown with a Yellow stripe, (Thick 20 gauge wire), and Black with a Red stripe. (Thinner wire. 18 gauge)

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor Removal and Installation
  1. Disconnect battery ground cable (14301) .
  1. Disconnect engine control sensor wiring (12A581) from intake air temperature sensor (IAT sensor) (12A697) .
  1. Remove intake air temperature sensor from air cleaner outlet tube (9B659). (This is the tube that goes from the air cleaner to the engine.)
  1. To install, reverse Removal procedure. Tighten intake air temperature sensor securely.
