If you are reasonably mechanically minded, you should be able to carry out this repair.
But what I would recommend, is you follow the instructions from a workshop manual, which you can download on line for this model.
Just Google it.
Hope I have been of help.
Good Luck !

There is slack in the belt around the water pump and the thing that the water pump sits on is really loose someone told me the bands in the water pump have gone out is there any way to fix that without...

A water pump would not have bands.
If the water pump pulley is loose, the bearing may have failed. If that is the case, the water pump would need to be replaced.
If the serpentine belt is loose, the tensioner may have failed.

1999 Nissan Sentra overheating and already replaced thermostat and water pump! Please help!

For a 99 model a used engine might be the cheapest route. You can have the head checked for cracks and warpage - repair or replace as needed. The block can also be warped which will make the new head gasket leak.
Do you know for a fact the overheating is because you are leaking coolant into the engine ?

1999 jeep grand cherokee leaking antifreeze

Could be any of above but would start with exaust, if crack in the head gasket on the port side they will be moisture coming out the exaust pipe, First thing u do if find where the water is coming out if no puddles are found it's more likely the head itself. good luck. Personaly i would take that shop to small claims court.

There are some possibilities which you will have to check in this case:--
1) First of all check the power and voltage to the battery.with meter it will show exact 12 volt if the battery is charged.if the voltage is less get the battery charged at local auto repair shop.if the battery is internally drained and not getting charged then its time to replace the battery.
2) When you crank the car do you see spark coming at the spark plug? if no then its time to check the spark plugs and coil pack.if the spark plugs are not worn out and looks new then its time to check coil pack.the spark plugs gets power to spark from coil pack.
3) The other thing to check in this case is the starter solenoid of the car.if the battery is charged and you start the car then it gives power to the starter to start the car.but if starter is faulty or not connected properly then car will not start.
4) The other thing to check in this case is fuel in the car.if there is fuel in the car  then check the blockages in the fuel pump if the fuel pump looks proper then check the fuel filter above the fuel pump.
5) If all the above possibilities mentioned above checked out OK/perfect then its a electrical issue and the wiring's in the car needs to be checked.the car gets power from the battery to get the wires from battery needs to be checked one by one.
But if you are confirmed that engine went out and its not any other problem then engine needs to be replaced.

This parts needs to be replaced in Engine
gasket set, set of pistons and rings, main bearings, rod bearings, thrust washers, timing belt, balance shaft bearings (if applicable), and a set of expansion plugs . Pistons & Rings: Std., .020, .040. Bearings: Std., 10, 20, 30.oil pump.timing kit.etc etc,,.
Thanks. keep updated for any more can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

How do i locate and change a water pump in a 1995 chevy caprice?

Well the water pump will be mounted directly to the engine block with two large hoses running from it to your radiator.

When you get the new water pump make sure it has new gaskets in there. Should only be a couple of bolts and it comes right off.

Scrape off all of the old gasket from the engine block before you put the new gasket and pump on.

Good luck!

-Captain Jake

PS - Might have to drain your radiator first, it has a little valve at the bottom. And PLEASE make sure the car is cold so your poor husband doesn't burn the **** out himself :D

I am a mechanic in a shop in my area and replacing a water pump on your car would not cost that much money. I checked the prices of a water pump and thermostat and I would not charge more than $250 for the job. I pays 1.5 hours labor to replace the pump. I hope this is helpful.

1993 Audi 90 cs Quattro Screwed up!!

Regarding your radiator leak, some can be fixed but plastic radiators usually get replaced. A 1993 probably would need a fan switch by now if it was never replaced especially if it's the fan switch that is screwed into the radiator and is exposed to coolant. Again, a car this old would probably need a new water pump too but screwing up the valves is definitely his fault and should pay for all repairs. I'd have someone else do the repairs like the car dealer and charge him for it! Take it to small claims court if necessary. Lastly, if you signed an invoice to just have the radiator fixed and nothing else, your case is strong. If you signed an agreement giving him permission to do "whatever needed in his best judgement", well, your case weakens a bit in regard to having all the other parts replaced but he's still a fool for bending your valves. Sorry to hear of your encounter with this. Please post the name of this shop for the rest of us will know to stay away from it.
