1991 loyale 4wd problem

I have a 91 loyale that the 4wd won't engage. it worked ok before the freeze up here in the northwest. now it won't do anything. it would(before freeze) engage after pushing the button a couple of times but i couldn't back up. it was like the brakes were locked. i could drive forward fine but i couldn't reverse. now it won't kick in at all.

SOURCE: stuck in 4wd

Apparently, their is an electrically controlled, vaccuum servo located below the spare donut tire under the hood which is malfunctioning. It is connected to a lever on the side of transmission, by a cable. A temporary fix is to get the lever to move forward by hand. Jack up the car on the passenger side. Between the two transmission cross members, above the exaust pipe behind the catylictic converter, you will see the lever connected to the cable. Push lever forward towards motor to disengage rear wheels. This will allow you to travel on a hard road until you can get to a mechanic.

SOURCE: 1991 Toyota pickup 4WD clutch slipping

There is an adjustment for the clutch pedal under the dash where the push rod goes thru the firewall. There is only aprx. 1/2" of adjustment so be careful when making an adjustment, if your clutch is slipping then you need to shorten the throw of the push rod.

SOURCE: hyundai excel 1996 automatic will engage reverse

It appears you have a Forward Clutch FAILURE. Replace the trans after you get it diagnosed and verified by a professional technician. By the way, do you have a Check Engine light? If so, what is the diagnostic code? The dealership can scan the system and find any codes which may have been stored in the TCM (Transmission Control Module). If there were any 'Incorrect Gear Ratio" codes, it's most probably the trans itself.

SOURCE: rear brakes locked on my 92 loyale wagon. How do I

U got those 4Wheel Emergency brakes on subaru's 90-94 year, so bet is either that rear cable caught on sumin or brake pedal not releasing totally (if recently replaced master brake cylinder may just need correct adjustment)

SOURCE: 2000 chevy blazer reverse is out and transfer case

I'm Going to say the low/reverse 1 way roller clutch is broken, you are hearing the low/rev.planetary gear set spinning.it is at the very rear of the tranny, right where it bolts to the transfer case.It may have died of old age but the ones I've broken have been rocking the truck out of snow or holeshots. If that's the only thing wrong,it's a cheap(used) part but the whole transmission has to come apart, lots of labor.

I have a 91 s10 4x4 and the 4 wheel drive wont engauge

There is a vacuume switch with 3 vacuume lines running to it on the top side of the transfer case that is a known problem on push button 4wd. If i remember right the 91 has this and it should take care of your problem. It's called the transfer case switch and it's about $15.

91 s-10 wont go into 4 wd at transfer case i want to mannually engage transfer case

if you engage the 4wd in the cab and it doesnt engage, but you can move the arm at the front axle and then it does engage, you probably have a vacuum leak causing the actuator to not work. That model truck was bad about that. There is now an aftermarket kit you can install that works manually from inside the cab to engage/disengage the front axle.

My 91' subaru loyale is using a lot of motor oil, but the oil is not leaking. what could be the problem?

Milage could be one, have you changed weight or brands of oil? That can cause it to use oil too, or the engine could be just plane wore out.
