    Thank you for your advice. Upon closer inspection, there is a gap between the door and perimeter of car. My daughter told me that when she was driving it the door was hard to open not long ago. She said the molding sort of pulled loose when she got the door open. Is this problem hard to fix? I really appreciate your taking the time to help me. Thanks, again.

There is a switch or sensor on the door frame either on the hinch side or on the latch side. Try to activate it with the the car on. With the door open, the door open light should light on, if it is a mechanical switch, push it in, if a sensor, touch it with a steel object, the light should turn off. This means the door switch is working ok. Now try the same again but this time push the switch slowly until the door ajar warning light turns on. This means that the switch works ok. Now, close the door from outside and check that there is no gap betwwen the body and the door line all over the perimeter of it. If there is a gap mainly at the latch side or at the hinch side, it can be your problem. If so, let me know so I can show you how to adjust the door to eliminate the gap.
If there is no gaps, your door switch is to low (too far in), let me know so I can show you how to adjust it.

    Hi Dena,

    Which molding are talking about? Is this the inner rubber gasket around the door? or is this an outer molding.

    On the other side, if the door is becoming hard to open, chances are the door is hanging down, this means the latch is dragging on the receiving latch on the door frame, this tells me the door needs to be lifted by losing and adjusting the hinges to lift the door. This is a very common problem in these mini vans. They came out with a weak hinge design. Some times you can lit the door by forcing it up with a big and long 4x4 stud levering it from the farthest point of the lower pat of the door. I did this with my 1995 dodge caravan one time. The door is so weak and flexible that a strong man can straighten and realign the gap by forcing it in, towards the cab from the top while holding the buttom part. I could send you a sketch describing all of the above adjustments if you wish. My e mail is;

    I hope this helps..!

Cant find door sensor 2002 chrysler town & country

I know on my ford ranger the switch is located inside the door such that when the door latch rotates around the lock pin, it actuates the switch. If you don't see the switch in the door jamb, pull the inside door panel off and take a look around, focusing on the area around the latch.

That is normal operation, as long as the door is open the door ajar switch senses that and keeps the interior light(s) on.

Get a wiring diagram. Unplug connector from BCM and do a continuity check on each door at the BCM. That'll tell you whether it's a door switch, wiring or BCM problem
